Welcome all Catholics, For to long I have heard my church being critisised, these days the Catholic church is an easy target for anyone that wants to make a public attack but still wants to remain PC. Catholics are an easy target. Enough is enough, Catholics are good people, Catholics do good things (just look at all the Catholic Saints). The reformation has been and gone but still Catholics are critisised (enough is enough). I hate to make this point but how many gamers here play TW as Jerusalem, The Teutonic Knights , France, Spain etc plus many other Catholic factions? But still Catholics are an easy target. I'm a proud Catholic and I've had enough of this (what I call Catholic bashing) stand up against the attack. Like the crusaders before me I will fight for my church.
I agree into believing in God, but not all Catholics were good people. Look at the inquisition. Many innocent people died because they ha da nother idea then the Papacy and the Vatican had. Or many other things. So i wouldnt agree all the Catholics were good people
The Catholic Church will once again guide the sheep to its rightful shepherd~!!
You are right, the Catholic church is so big and have been around for so long that there are bound to be bad Catholics and people will and have used it for their own purposes, but the vast majority and as a whole, the Catholic church is good. It just seems these days you only ever hear bad things about the Catholic church, non Catholics seem to get joy out of putting the church down and I have had enough. In Australia Catholics where discriminated against up until the 50's & 60's. You are right the Inquisition did get way out hand but the Dominicans today do a great job they ran my primary school. Welcome UCMENOMOR, emperor_robertIX and ecclesian_knight
Well, I agree whole heartedly with the OP. Catholic's need more apoligists. Merry Christmas to you all!
Yes, i dont say there arent good Catholics , only the onces in the Hierarchy weren't all good. But we can say for sure John Paul II was the wisest and most beloved Pope ( I am a patriot of him ) ever in the history of the church. And I agree completely with the fact that Atheists like to put down the Church. I have a very big example of that in my class. They keep asking me those enoying and insulting questions. But i dont think Atheists only like to put down the Catholic Church, but it think all the Religions. By the way have you heard about the attack on Pope Benedict XVI?
Ah yes, old news. They say it was the same lady that attacked him a year ago. John Paul was not the "wisest" pope. In fact, it would be difficult to pinpoint a "wisest" pope as each pope has had a mission. John Paul brought down the Iron Curtain, which was an enormous feat, and I believe he is a saint. One must also remember the "self-excommunication" Technically, when someone says that they are Catholic, but also says that they don't believe in this or that, then they have self excommunicated them self. They should no longer consider them part of the Roman Catholic Church.
Obviously you mean the this and that as Church doctrine yer?
Aye. I asked some people about self excommunication, because I see it as one of the biggest problems the Church is facing. When people say, "I'm Catholic, but I am pro-choice." Or "I'm Catholic, but I'm pro gay-marriage." it gives the Church a bad name. As soon as they say "But" though, they have separated themselves from the Church. Of course, the usual conditions apply. As in they need to know that they can't be Catholic and pro-choice. Most people know that but when still claiming to be Catholic, they have separated themselves. I still need to find out whether or not they have started their own religion, and are heretics at that point though. I'd think yes, but I'm not sure.
How about Czech people (They're Atheist)
Once Catholic, Catholic for life.. They might stray from the proper path, but that does not bar their entry into heaven. If according to our faith even those of other churches can reach heaven through being in imperfect communion with the Catholic Church, it's possible that lapsed Catholics may as well.. Although I don't know just by how much their rejection of the true doctrine would hurt them, seeing as unlike those from protestant churches, lapsed Catholics know the true way yet choose to stray from it.
From Mel Gibson's The Passion but I believe this is too graphic for this pic
Well, no one really knows the mercy of God, so all we can do is hope and pray for those who have strayed. This year shall be a great year for the Church, as it is the year of the Priest!
One of the earliest things I can remember in my Catholic education is forgiveness, and to non-Catholics it seems like a cop out (and to a lot of Catholics I know) but while I will always stand up for the Catholic church, I never judge those outside it, that is for God and St Peter. @Countdooku I was thinking that's a massive generalisation saying what about the Czechs but I just looked it up almost 60% are unaffiliated but still just over a quarter are Catholic the majority religion in the Czech republic, that's 1 in 4.
Here is a new thought. I read the new book of Dan Brown, "The Lost Symbol". And it is a very interesting book. When finished the book, my perspective on Faith had changed. We people take too litteraly that God created us on his image, that is why we human picture God as an old wise man with a beard. Of course God is wise, but from what I read, God created our soul on his image. God isn't an old man with a beard, but he is an energy, which shaped us, and God planted a part of himself in us, so we actually have a part of God in us. Here are some argments which can support this thoguht: Jesus Christ thaught that "The Kingdom of God is within you" and he even promised us "The works I do, you can do... and even greater." And what about the famous Hermetic aphorism? "Know ye not that ye are Gods?". This all makes sence to me.
Sorry if I'm changing the subject, but I wanted to just say how grateful I am that somebody made this group! Nowadays Catholicism and faith in general is growing more and more rare on "teh internetz" and this little group is like a glimmer of hope! God bless you all!

It's not just Catholics but all Christian denominations and all religions that are being made fun off everywhere. They even have articles of criticism on wikipedia for all the major religions.
“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” Luke 2:29-32
