Also known as Imperial Crisis II, the first campaign of this mod starts in 193 AD, with the death of Emperor Pertinax, murdered by his own Praetorian guard. The treacherous act triggered a civil war of succession. In Pannonia, the legions proclaimed their commander, a man named Severus, as Emperor, but at the same time in Syria, a rival appeared. The Eastern legions draped their own man, Pescennius Niger, in the purple, and in Rome, a senator named Didius Julianus managed to get the support of the Praetorian guard. But to win the throne is one thing, to keep it quite another. And even if all the Imperial rivals are dealt with, there's the ever looming threat from Rome's enemies: the Barbarian tribes of the North, and the mighty Parthians in the East. It will take a strong man to take the throne. And a cunning one to stay alive...
