MAARC LXI Winners!!!

Congratulations to the winners!

MAARC LXI was a bloodbath, a competition for only the most brave. With the most submissions recorded in living memory (read: how long I can remember because I can’t be bothered going through the archives) it was a fierce competition to say the least. But while 9 went in, inevitably only 3 could come out and so, here are the three winners of MAARC LXI.

In FIRST PLACE some weird guy from the Shogun 2 AAR sub-forum with some AAR no one has ever heard of. I think it might be titled Way of the Dough. No that doesn’t sound right. No, I’m fairly sure it’s Way of the Sow. No, that would be about farming practices and incredibly boring. I know, Way of the Bow, yes that’s it. That’s definitely more feudal Japan. Anyway, yeah that won, not really sure how. But congrats to whoever wrote it.

SECOND PLACE, after a three-way tiebreaker, was awarded to waveman's For Honor or For Glory, another Shogun 2 AAR. Following the Matsudaira (maybe known better as the Tokugawa clan) clan, will the Matsudaira succeed in following their real life counterparts or will they become just another victim of the bloody Sengoku Jidai. This is proving to be a very promising and interesting AAR, and I can’t help but laud over the fact that it is a Shogun 2 one as well. Great work to waveman and his AAR.

Yannick is dropped in an unknown, seemingly ancient world, where he doesn’t remember how he got there or how to get out of there. Welcome to the THIRD PLACE winner, A Long Way From Home by Caillagh. One of the Study’s favourite ongoing AARs, this tale of a man lost in the cold and rugged lands of Skyrim is both comical and fascinating to read. Caillagh constantly portrays normal gameplay mechanics in interesting ways and I’m not sure I could stop writing about all the things I love about this AAR if I started. See for yourself, it is a truly great AAR already and one of 2015’s best (who said Yearly Awards?)

The submission thread, overflowing with participants, can be found here. The battlefield of the vote thread is strewn with the bodies of the fallen here, and three brave warriors fight it out for second place in the tiebreaker thread here.

    I feel that the author of this piece should have praised the winner more, I mean yes it does sometimes make you wonder about the farming practices of the Yeti, but if it found its way to first place there must be something there.... :laughter: (I first read it as "Way of the Snow", and was like wth does that have to do with farming?)

    Congrats to everyone, great to see so many entries. :)

    Must be difficult to congratulate your own story huh Merchant. :surprise: Still a link would be nice, for those people seeing this and are interesting in reading the winning AAR! :P

    @waveman
    Please don't give me plot ideas. I wonder if there are any myths about Yetis in Japan......

    @Shankbot
    It is, like I want to boast about how great I am but apparently I can't for some reason :P

    I actually completely forgot adding a link, oops.

    Congratulations to everyone who entered - it was really hard to choose who to vote for. Special congratulations to the first and second place winners, of course!

    Merchant, your comments made me . Thank you!

    (And you should totally find a Japanese yeti myth. Surely there must be a myth about some kind of monster that lives in snowy, mountainous areas...?)
