  1. TotW 243 and 244 Winners!

by , October 31, 2015 at 06:23 AM (The Official (and Unofficial) Writer's Study Blog)
The TotW has been fairly busy since the last blog posts, with a number of votes going up and closing and thus we have two winners to announce.

TotW 243 saw the brave competitors channel their inner Indiana or Lara Croft and go raiding some tombs. But what would they find? Treasure? Scrolls? The previous tomb raider? Six competitors set out into the dense jungle full aware that only one would come out alive. But who would it be?

Three came back however after the first vote ...
  2. Adventures in Home Buying

For numerous reasons my wife and I have decided to buy a new house. Home prices in the Denver metro area are pretty ridiculous with the average price being in the neighborhood of $390,000. Ouch!

For that you can get a nice sized house that's fairly well appointed, but that has a yard you can spit across, and when you stand between your house and the neighbors you can touch them both. We currently live in an older part of the city (house built in 1949), and my yard is two or three ...

A 3d-person, action, RTS with magic (suicide-bomber-cow spell included), the souls of your fallen enemies as a resource, whimsical gods to serve and betray and a wonderfully weird artistic design, not to mention the best soundtrack I can think of. We shall not see its like again.

    Hey TWC,

Merchant here again. So I never did post another blog post for that third day (many in the WS know I’m kind of lazy) but here is the amazing, spectacular, engrossing third instalment of the Writer’s Study Blog.

Alwyn, our commander-in-chief, took out first spot with his intriguing new tale set in Haiti. With rebellion brewing on this rich French colonial outpost and family feuds not helping the situation, Alwyn is at his usual brilliant self again. Second place

  5. Perks of passing 50

by , October 02, 2015 at 11:44 PM (Tall an' handsome)
It's been a while since I passed the magic five-zero and in looking back I could not help but list the advantages that have opened up to folks like me:

    • In a hostage situation, you are likely to be released first.
    • Kidnappers are not very interested in you.
    • No one expects you to run - anywhere.
    • People call at 9 PM and ask, "Did I wake you?"
    • People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
    • There is nothing left to learn the hard way.
    • Things
