This will just be a spot I post my thoughts about TWC and life in general. Expect lots of technical stuff along with my thoughts on owning and administering a site the size of TWC.

  1. Why Google still sucks!

I am most likely going to violate my own Terms of Service here, and I really do not care. Moderators, leave this post alone!

In 2013 TWC was banned from Google Adsense for three policy violations. That's right, three. On a site that at the time had more than 2 million posts and 60k members. And just what were these flagrant violations?

    1. A picture posted in a mod forum of a woman in lingerie in 2005 with the title "Obligatory babe shot" before the information ...

  2. The Quest for the Perfect Stick

Hello to the hoo-mans on TWC. My name is Colt, and the silly hoo-man you know as GED is my servant. He prepares my food, washes and brushes my coat, fills my water bowl, and does anything else I need him to do. In return I make sure he gets out and gets his exercise, and keep him warm at night.

Here is my picture so you can bask in my magnificence.

  3. Adventures in Home Buying

For numerous reasons my wife and I have decided to buy a new house. Home prices in the Denver metro area are pretty ridiculous with the average price being in the neighborhood of $390,000. Ouch!

For that you can get a nice sized house that's fairly well appointed, but that has a yard you can spit across, and when you stand between your house and the neighbors you can touch them both. We currently live in an older part of the city (house built in 1949), and my yard is two or three ...

  4. Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70K

Last year when my wife and I went to London, the digital camera I had at the time decided to die on me. It didn't completely die, it just refused to read or write to the SD card which meant I could only take a few pics before moving stuff to my laptop and clearing the internal storage which go to be a pain, and after buying two new cards for it while we were there we actually ended up buying a cheap little throw away camera to use for the rest of that trip. Cell phone cameras are only good for certain ...
  5. Update on the IRS situation

This is too long to put in the comments section, so I will post some info and reply to comments as well.

I managed to eliminate $24,800 of that $52,000 number by faxing them a ton of paperwork, after I went and bought a damned FAX machine. They haven't confirmed that yet (they need 30 days....) and then I will get another letter telling me what they think.

They are still probably going to bang me on $6,000 worth of donations that got reclassified from "Personal ...
