Kampf um Europa is a Community RPG/AAR that seeks to create a Political and Military leadership body from TWC members, working together to bring about Prussian dominance of the European continent.
Kampf um Europa exists, simultaneously, in two separate spheres. One, the RPG takes place on the forums here. Government ministries are run, finances are determined and dispersed, policy is discussed, orders are issued, and results are tabulated. This is where your character(s) reside(s).
The other sphere exists upon a centralized save game, ETW running a variant of APE:TI, and the end goal focus of the community members.
There are many different kinds of characters: political figures, military leaders, policy debaters, even rabble rousers and regular civilians. Your character within the forum determines your role upon the map, and your rise to power within the structure of the Reich see’s your influence over events increase.
However, never think yourself safe. Always, someone is thinking they can do your job better. Always, someone hopes to make their accomplishments shine in contrast to your failures. Politiking, backstabbing and dueling are all integral parts of the KuE world. So, if you wish to be powerful, you must earn it.
Anyone can join, and anyone can rise through the ranks. Intelligence, character, dedication and availability all factor in to the general assessment of your Character’s renown. So, join on in, find your niche, and rock it to the top!

With Empire out and people playing it now with fewer problems - we hope! - a fellow gaming site has opened its doors to the TWC. Members may now upload their ETW replays onto GameReplays to share with other gamers. In addition, GameReplays recently instated a competition pitting ETW battle replays against one another for prizes. You may check out both the replay section and info on the competition on their site.
Please be aware that the TWC takes no responsibility for this competition: it is not run by the TWC. Read all rules carefully before agreeing to join the competition.

The competition is hot and heavy here in the PotW forum. This week we were blessed with a superb submission by mastaace. This ingenious tapestry combines literally hundreds of screenshots into a picture of a charging Ghulam, complete with lance. The reduced size here does not do this work justice, come see it Here
Frigates are single-deck warships, used for a variety of tasks thanks to a combination of good handling, firepower and endurance at sea. The frigate is used for pursuit, convoy protection, commerce raiding and reconnaissance work. The design’s excellent sailing characteristics and good handling, especially in inshore waters, make it a useful addition to any blockading fleet. The frigate’s ability to operate far away from a home port also makes them it a useful cruiser, carrying the fight to the enemy in unexpected waters. Frigates can have the advantage over larger, two-deck ships in rough waters. A frigate captain rarely has to worry about his gun deck taking on water, and can therefore fight in conditions that leave bigger ships at a disadvantage. However, fifth rates are not powerful enough to face battleships. They have the speed and handling to stay out of trouble; they do not have the strength of construction to survive a pounding! Against sloops, brigs and merchantmen, however, they are deadly. Thomas, Lord Cochrane earned a fortune in prize money, gained the nickname “le loup des mers” (sea-wolf) and was the inspiration for fictional heroes Horatio Hornblower and Jack Aubrey.
Sweden dominates Scandinavia and the Baltic, a Northern European empire that is the legacy of the incomparable warrior-king, Gustavus II Adolphus. Even though he died in battle at Luetzen in 1632, the army that he created helped Sweden profit from the seemingly endless religious struggles of the Thirty Years War. The nation emerged from that conflict immeasurably stronger in military terms, and able to invade its Baltic neighbours at will. This military power did, however, cost money and Swedish lives. Neither of these commodities is available in abundance, and the prudent stewardship has been necessary too. Charles XI, however, has left an impressive arsenal in place for his son, should he wish to take up the sword; and Charles XII has an obsessive interest in soldiering.

Fellow TWC'ers. The following documentary was created by Lord Chretzel some two years ago with the support of professors and fellow peers using a rendition of a TW modification some of you may well know (NTW2). It depicts the battles of Jena-Auerstedt in 1806, a year when history was said to end and a little known Corsican officer become king of all Europe.
The film itself was done as a free project by Lord Chretzel, a TW modder!, and runs some 41 minutes long. (Those of you who have but a moment to spare may watch the trailer.) Please take the time to enjoy the following documentary as it may change the minds of those doubtful of the upcoming TW game and bring inspiration to those who have studied this period for many a year.
RockPaperShotgun.com has posted a new exclusive interview with Empire: Total War's Lead Designer James Russell. During the Q&A they discussed political changes in the 18th century, changes to the campaign map, the role of Generals and naval battles.
we will soon have an exclusive Q&A session for E:TW with the game's developers.
We would like you to submit questions in this thread that you would like to see answered; of course, not all will be included but the shorter, more succinct and specific those are, the more chances are those will make the final list.
TWC Citizens can post their questions in this thread.
Please help us by not asking questions that have been answered already by CA or asked again in the thread, questions that regard matters like button colours and wig shapes and exact modding specifics.
