Hello All its been a while since a major update here. But we are all still here and here is some work to prove it

Last update brought you the legions of Rome this time Imperium presents one of their early enemies:

Imperium TW presents:

EPIRUS

General

Captain

Epirote Companions

These men are a social and military elite, and fight as heavy cavalry using shock and mass to break enemy units. They are the direct heirs to the Companions of Alexander the Great and his father, Philip of Macedon, and they revel in this proud heritage. They ride the best horses and have the finest armour available; each is armed with a good spear and a sword for close combat. As heavy cavalry they can be a decisive arm of battle, and are able to charge down many opponents. They are best used as shock cavalry to break wavering enemy formations, but do need to be careful - as with all cavalry - when attacking spearmen. Bravery is of little use when galloping straight onto a row of gleaming spear points! Traditionally these men would be given land grants after great victories, giving them a personal stake in the battle's outcome.

Chaonian Agema:

The Chaonian Agema are elite troops, drawn from the ranks of the Pezhetairoi. In phalanx formation these troops can be used to pin the enemy line in place, while mobile forces wheel around the flanks to deliver a decisive blow. Agema are drawn from families with decent resources, as these men need to provide good quality cuirass armour and a metal helmet for protection. The Agema carry a shield strapped to the left arm, leaving both hands free to brandish the lengthy sarissa a 21 foot pike. Gripped in both hands above the head up to five ranks' worth of pikes can be aimed at the enemy. Men in rows further back hold their pikes at a 45 degree angle, creating a shield to ward off enemy arrows. All members of the Agema also have short swords for when the formation breaks.

Molossian Pezhetairoi:

Pezhetairoi ("Foot Companions") are phalangites and form the backbone of Epirote battle lines. In phalanx formation these troops can be used to pin the enemy line in place, while mobile forces wheel around the flanks to deliver a decisive blow. The Pezhetairoi are drawn from families with decent resources, as these men need to provide leather cuirass armour and a metal helmet for protection. Tarantine Phalangite:

These men are phalangites and are recruited from the city of Taras in the south of Italy. In phalanx formation these troops can be used to pin the enemy line in place, while mobile forces wheel around the flanks to deliver a decisive blow. The Phalangites are drawn from families with decent resources, as these men need to provide leather cuirass armour and a metal helmet for protection which a italic variant of the Korinthian helm. Phalangites carry a shield strapped to the left arm, leaving both hands free to brandish the lengthy sarissa a 21 foot pike. Gripped in both hands above the head up to five ranks' worth of pikes can be aimed at the enemy. Men in rows further back hold their pikes at a 45 degree angle, creating a shield to ward off enemy arrows. All Phalangites also have short swords.

Illyria Thureophoroi

Illyrian Thureophoroi are aggressive skirmishers accustomed to operating in rough terrain who are liable to attack without orders. They come from the tribes in the western Balkans. These troops are unruly skirmishers equipped with javelins and large shields, as well as short swords for close combat. The Illyrian tribes are experienced land and sea raiders, and their chief joy is the prospect of plunder! One of the more famed Illyrian kings, Bardylis, built his success and reputation on the basis of his equitable distribution of the spoils after each successful battle. This expectation of loot contributes to their occasional over-enthusiasm to get into a fight. These troops are effective ambushers, and they have good prospects of defeating most other skirmishers in combat.

Illyria Cavalry Rider:

Ilyrian Light Cavalry are javelin-armed mounted skirmishers who can strike quickly and be gone in the time it takes a more ponderous enemy to react. They wear light armour, and carry large shields and swords so that they can fight in hand-to-hand combat should the need arise. They are, however, best used to dash in and harass a mass of enemies, such as infantry who cannot hope to catch them. They are not ideally suited to fighting other skirmishers - many of their javelins will be wasted against targets who can dodge, after all - but they can be very useful in harrying fleeing enemies and driving them from the field.

We hope you have enjoyed this taster of things to come.
