I can see the logic behind that, actually. Lying about us makes him wrong, it makes him untrue, which is probably one of his justifications for "war" against the western world. Killing us though, is punishing those who are sinners and against the world of Islam.

I didn't explain it all that well, but hopefully you see what I mean.

Ie the rantings of a true religious fanatic who would see things such as lying, stealing etc (basically sinners) as horrible crimes against god and religion but 'destroying' those who engage in those acts as god's work. Certainly fits the image of Bin Laden and I really thing making a fatal mistake in underestimating that, saw one terrorist 'expert' on CNN talking about how when terrorist leaders are captured they always look out for their own hide and willing to make deals...this is the possibly fatal error we are making with Bin Laden and his types...that he is a TRUE believer that he actually believes this. Hell we've seen the result of 'true believers' here in the US with David Korsch who would willingly burn to death in his complex taking his followers with him rather then have the illusion of his fanatically religious beliefs shattered by being arrested. Cant 'defeat' true believers, cant rationalize with them, cant negotate with them all you can do imo is kill them (mainly because they wont allow themselves to be captured) but also have to attack the message to lessen the likelyhood of those who wish to follow in their place and that is failure of the Bush admin and the war in terror.

His logic is fine; it's his premises which are broken. He starts from the premise that morality is defined by the statements of an ancient book and doesn't have to be justified by any other means. In the Koran, it says it's perfectly OK to kill unbelievers, especially if you feel threatened by them in some way (even if it's just a religious "threat", like the way western culture is encroaching upon the rest of the world). But it also says that you should be honourable and speak the truth. Therefore, he concludes that it's OK to kill westerners but not OK to lie to them.

Of course, I find his morality absurd becuase you really need to come up with a better justification for a moral value judgment than "some dead guy said so", but if I subscribed to Biblical morality, I would be a hypocrite for saying that.
