I have a case of insomnia, I cannot sleep until at least one person posts some thoughts. Is everyone too busy playing around right now? We've waited so long to show this, I just hope people are enjoying it.

I'll be sure to post some as soon as my patch 1.2 has downloaded
I imagine most people are too busy playing around. What is the likelyhood of a CTD?

Good question. Much lower than in the past, but high enough that you should still make good use of the autosave feature.
We've gotten rid of many things we think cause them, but some still escape us. |

I'll give some feedback.
First of all. The loading times are ridiculously long. I understand that this is a bčta, and I have ful faith in the team to speeden them up in later versions. I've already experienced my first CTD, and I'll try to 'bracket' it later on. It was however even before I ended my first turn, lol. The lating voice mod did not install correctly. I carefully ran the installer and everything, making sure the voicemod was installed, though I don't hear any changes. (Has it got something to do with deleting some events.dat file?) I also found a couple of glitches. (e.g.: a costum battle with Romani; Seleukid flags -error.) Graphically, it's completely marvellous, I can't explain what a step upwards it is from vanilla. I'll hope this bčta will resolve lots of bugs, and I also hope I can help you by finding them. Cheers, TWK

I've only been mucking around in custom battles and havent tried the campmap yet, but some of the skins are very nice (Carthages), others are obviously still WIP (a lot of the Roman skins for example). Also I'm having the same problem as White Knight concerning the voice mod.
But I have to go now, I'm going to lay the smackdown on Eprius. Romani style!

you did nothing wrong with the voicemod. And it works but only for the wrong faction.

All in all though so far so good, those are minor things for the most part, I wish I had more time to play this morning. |

As for the load times, you can do something useful with that time. E.g. I keep in shape by doing abs while it's loading.

I took it for a quick spin (couldn't resist the temptation anymore) and so far, it looks FANTASTIC! This mod complete blows Vanilla RTW out of the water and it's sheer size and attention for details is overwhelming!
A beta it might be, but, by the gods, what a thing of beauty it already is! Right now, I'm cursing loudly because of the fact that I have to study ... Darn.

1. Moonwalking unfortunately present, its visual however and if it cant be fixed its ok...
2. Elephants still African and huge...And they DONT look decent rather than a fantasy blob in EB's perfection....however they are fixable by a simple RTR elephant loan... 3. Generals/Officers 100% vanilla like fly in the milk... 4. Considerable slowdowns in battles compared to vanilla, wrong sprites for many units (Like Mac Hetairoi Have cataphract sprites, Seleucid Hetairoi mainly cav..), the Pontic chariots are still vanilla... 5. The Buildings are SWEET...A huge blow of fresh air into the RTW+mods stalmate... 6. This thing IS HARD!!! Thanks god that the battlefield "AI" is dumb as a retard... 7. Custom battles setup is MESSED, I know it will be fixed but until then... These are just my first few turns with KH, Epirus and Macedonia... About the long load times, I've found that it usually loads to about 2/3 of the way to the end then stalls, but if I hit ctrl+atl+del it loads the rest very quickly and I can just atl+tab back.
I've tried out both the Yue-zhi and the Britons (Casses?) and I have a few concerns. One is that neither seems to be really financially viable. Because they only have one province there doesn't seems to be a way to feild an army capable of conquering anything because I go into so much debt. For example as the Yue-zhi I can conquer the first province that their army starts close to, but this battle destroys most of my army but still leaves me in so much debt that I'm unable to raise any more troops. The Yue-zhi also start out with the Sarmatian flavor of foot archers instead of their own that is recruitable in their capital. I don't know if this is intentional or an oversight. Also you may want to trim down the faction descriptions on the faction selection screen. They're almost impossible to read because hitting the down arrow once scrolls to a place in the text without anything from the previous screen still visible. It's nice to have all the info but if it's really hard to read it kind of defeats the purpose. |

Aye, I`d like to express the same consern listed above me, that conserns financial liability of some factions. I really can`t do anything with Sweboz, regarding money-making. It`s just too difficult. You start with approx. -3k or more "income", and even if I was to disband 3/4 of my units, I would probably still be in red numbers.
Farming makes almost nothing, taxes are pathethic, - rebel towns surrouding my province have a decent garrison, altough they can be defeated easily. However, that really doesen`t help, because towns like that (600 population) really don`t contribute much. The only possibility is to occupy a dozen towns, with an army of approx. 7 unit cards- while you would have to lose nothing, cuz you really can`t recruit anything meanwhile, with a bankrupt faction. Edit: The same thing with Casse - only worse, I think. They have virtually no army at the starting point, and a -1600 revenue.

for the casse look at the gamplay guide.
It's harder isn't it? that's the intention. At first you got to get used to it but if read the gameplay guides you see how you will be able to get a strong faction. It's how you begin that matters. If you upgrade your citys and disband the units wich you won't use,...you'll make profit and once your faction has strengthen enough you can go start yourself a nice war.

I agree about the skins, simply marvellous work.
The 2-hand phalanx is also great, though I noticed during a testrun (pezhetairoi vs pezhetairoi) that at one point all the soldiers in the unit started going up and down like yo-yo's. They would sink down into the ground to their ankles, then go up again etc. Dunno if it happens with non-phalanx units as I got scared off from playing battles since the performance was so bad. Speaking of which, I wonder what causes the performance issues.. I mean, even if I pan the camera so I don't see any units and pause the game I still have the same low framerate. Are you running addon scripts or something during the battle that steal processing power? Like some others I also have to agree that the loading times really are rediculous. The first time I started the game I ctrl+alt+deleted since I thought the game had frozen up on me... Nobody's mentioned this yet I think.. Isn't the campaign map simply beautiful? Varied terrain, huge forests etc. A big improvement I say. BTW, it looks like it's possible to have trade routes going all around the Arabian peninsula and into the Mediterranean. If so: NICE. |
