Something that might be a nice added touch (but we just don't have the time or manpower to actually put together right now in the push towards getting the Open Beta out) for the Ptolemaioi would be adding their royal Egyptian names. We know what they were for almost all the Ptolemies apparently, and it might be a nice touch to have accurate ones for the family members who start the game off - and then we can randomize them for successive faction leaders.
So here is the deal: Each Ptolemaic pharaoh had three royal names (a Horus Name, a Nebty Name, and a Golden Horus Name). Ptolemy II was Hunuqeni, Werpehti, Sekhaensuitef (the three names). This meant: "The strong youth", "whose might is great", "who his father has raised to the throne". His is a short one though. Ptolemy IV was: 1. Hunuqeni Sekhaensuitef 2. Werpehti Menekhibkhernetjerunebu Nedjtienhenmemet 3. Sewadjabaqet Sehedjgesuperu Semenhepu-midjehuty-aa-aa Nebhabused-miptahtatenen-itymire  If someone would be willing to look these up (the easy part) and look up the meanings (the hard part!) for about 20 (each, total about 60), we would be willing to either bring you in to continue to work with the Ptolemaioi inside EB or we'll hail you as an "Official EB Benificiary" with a banner if you like. You can find the names at the top of each Pharaoh's page here: http://www.phouka.com/pharaoh/pharaoh/dynasties/dyn33/dyn33.html Getting the known Ptolemaic names first would be best, then for a few more we can dip into the earlier ones to give some variation. But you won't be able to find all the translations online. You will probably need a good library, but translations should be able to be found (we don't expect folks to be able to read hieroglyphics, but if you can, that's definitely a plus! So how about it? Any takers? It's a little daunting maybe, but I think it would be a nice addition to the traits and there is agreement enough inside the mod to ask publicly here about it. You can reply here, but if you have specific questions feel free to PM me. |

I think that I could do it. This could be the chance I've been waiting for to really learn about Hellenistic Egypt, a goal I've had for quite some time.
There's sort of a lull in my life as I wait for midterm reports to come out and my friends and family all compliment me on my above-average research skills. So sure! The Falconer lurks where they cannot find him, and strikes when they cannot see him.

Thanks for the reply Falconer. I think someone has beaten you to the punch on the other EB board (the one at the .org). Sorry we haven't immediately updated this post here, but it looks like we will either have the information supplied there. Maybe we can find another way to do this kind of thing again, and if it doesn't work out I'll post here again, but for now we could put a hold on this issue or this thread.

Those won't be the actual trait names - but they will be listed (transliteration along with translation) inside the description of the trait. They aren't in the current build but will be eventually.

Got ya. So give us a preview of the name of one family member, if you can.
