Please note that since Darth has chosen not to continue making lite versions I will not make a lite version of nus either anymore. sorry.

I bring to you "Normal Unit Size 6.1" or, simply, NUS.

This sub mod is based on Darthmod 6.2 Commander edition. I have changed the size of the units to more vanilla based unit sizes for those of you who can't handle the gigantic battles of Commander Edition.

Changes to Darthmod:

- Decreased unit sizes. (average 160 for line infantry)
- Initially I changed the deployment rank to 3 for infantry and 4 for cavalry instead of the usual 6 in darthmod due to the smaller unit sizes. But this seems to give the battle AI some formation problems. Now all non-light infantry has 4 ranks as well. cavalry still has 4 ranks.
- I've noticed that the AI spams Howitzer batteries so I've increased recruitment cost and upkeep for all howitzers. Needs testing.
- accuracy of infantry and missile cavalry slightly decreased to compensate for the smaller units. Needs testing.

Please read if you are experiencing issues:
If there's any issues feel free to post so here. Remember to give a thorough description of your problems. You should also write which version you are using (normal, lite, DMUC_core), and post the contents of your user.empire_script inside spoiler tags. This is all to make it easier to spot what could be the problem. Last: please make a quick search before posting since it gets a bit tedious answering the same question several times. Thank you

Install:

The mod contains all the changes made by Darth plus my unit size changes.

please give darth & the rest of the ream some rep for their excellent work!

If you want to play the "standard" version of NUS follow the instrutions below.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Follow this link (filefront) or this link (Megaupload) for the download.

*** Standalone installation ***

Extract the folder and place the darthmod.pack file in your empire total war\data directory.
(find your steam folder and then click steamapps\common\empire total war\data)

And then put the empire_user.script into your scripts folder which can be located at:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

vista & 7: C:\Users\*Your user name*\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assemply\Empire\scripts
xp: C:\Documents and Settings\*Your User Name*\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

if you are using vista you can easily locate the script folder by searching for "appdata" in the
search field after pressing start. You might need to enable hidden files if you haven't done already.
You do this by:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Clicking Start > Control Panel
When the Control Panel opens you can either be in Classic View or Control Panel Home view:

1: If you are in the Classic View do the following:

Double-click Folder Options > click View tab > Under Hidden file and folders section select botton
labeled show hidden files and folders > remove checkmark from the checkbox labeled "Hide extensions from known file types" &
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled "Hide protected operating system files"

2: If you are in the Control Panel Home view do the following:
Click on Appearance and Personalization > click Show Hidden Files or Folders > Under Hidden file and folders section select botton
labeled show hidden files and folders > remove checkmark from the checkbox labeled "Hide extensions from known file types" &
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled "Hide protected operating system files"

*** Installation with darthmod startpos.esf ***
first download and install Darthmod Empire Commander
then replace the darthmod.pack file in your \data folder with the NUS darthmod.pack file.
The starting units on the campaign map will have the huge darthmod unit sizes, the units you recruit from then
on will have nus sizes.

If you want to use this submod with DMUC while using the DMUC_core option follow these instructions.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

download DMUC NUS Patch 6.2 attached to the bottom of the post.

Beware of one thing here. The new musket lethality on normal unit sizes are devastating. Just so you know. I've been trying to figure out how to normalize it for many days, but so far I'm at a loss.

?
Forgive my lack of knowledge but what does this mod actually do?
A warrior and his weapon cannot succeed if they are separate. The weapon becomes the instrument of the warrior’s will and the warrior becomes the engine that allows the weapon to fulfill the purpose for which it was created.
Thus, with this blade, I’d engage an enemy, whose eyes looked into mine, whose breath fell upon my face, whose blood would drench me.

it reverts the unit sizes back to vanilla scale for those who's systems can't handle the enlarged units

New Normal Unit Size version based on the Full version of Darthmod, ie. not lite version, that'll come later when Darth Vader has the time to release a Darthmod 3.0 lite.

I believe that's because you've blocked pop-ups, just press the "click here" on the download screen and it should pop-up
it should say something like:

Your download will begin in a moment. If it does not, click here to try again.
