Grenades in DarthMod


This simply adds grenades to all the grenade using units in the original game, as well as lowering their unit sizes slightly to rebalance them. It is relatively easy to do, so this is mainly for the convenience.

You will need to unzip the file and place it in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\empire total war\data.


Changes as of 7/30:

-Updated to darthmod 2.5, though I haven't tested it yet as I don't have time right now.

Changes as of 7/23:

-The mod should now work properly with darthmod 2.4 without a ctd
-Horse Grenadiers have correct number of horses

Changes as of 7/22:

-All unit sizes of Grenade using units have been reduced by exactly 1/5
-It is now compatible with the latest version of darth mod (2.4)
-Some units that I had missed now have grenades.


Important: this is a seperate pack from darthmod, so you will need to run both mods using modmanager, with this one below darth mod.

I don't believe that's possible to mod yet. And it might never be, but hopefully CA will release some tools that lets us do that and all the other things we can't mod yet.

Yeah, as far as I know it's not possible, but I still prefer overpowered grenades to no grenades at all.

Ah well I guess I'll just limit myself to a certain amount for each battle. Hmm wonder how many they should carry.

As of now it does. Sorry about the delays. Like I said i'm on vacation and if Darth keeps releasing new versions of his mod every week I can't keep up that well.

Also, if anyone wants an older version of this mod to correspond to a previous darthmod, please tell me, as I am still using the 2.4 version myself because I didn;t want to mess up my campaign.

still works for me on 2.5, I just set the script as so:

mod grenades-darthmod.pack:
mod darthmod.pack;

and viola, grenades

I loaded it after Darth-mod... still no gernades... before Darth-mod and Yea! Grenades! That migh have been why 2.4 worked for others as well.. Thanks!

Grenades work great, except for Prussia. Just have to load the grenades mod first with mod manager.

However, even when doing so, they do not show up for the Prussians.

Are you sure? I was playing a 2.5 campaign as the Prussians and the early Grenadiers had access to grenades although I think the later variants didn't? Admittedly I was using a combination of mod packs along with DM 2.5 so that could have been the problem. I've trimmed them out for my latest 2.6 campaign.

All you have to do, and you don't even have to download this, honestly, is go into D-mod's pack files and find the unit description list, scroll sideways until you find "throws grenades" at the head of the column and type in "true." I wasn't even aware someone took the effort to "fix" this. I just typed it in manually anytime he update his mod. In all honesty you could make militia throw grenades if you wanted to. Even light infantry could... there's an idea.


Also, in my experience, they can't be set to throw once they're out of ammo, so... that's their ammo limit for grenades I guess?

Apparently the pack file manager won't open the lists anymore, forcing you to use the DB Editor found on sourceforge... Could you post a more detailed description on how to do this?
