Anyone remember that Half Life was released years before Steam?

Anyway, it handled launches for Orange Box, Left 4 Dead, and numerous other games perfectly okay. We do not have to worry.

Lol. Steam is screwed.

I also doubt they are prepared for what is about to befall them.

I doubt it. I would be shocked if the TW community was even close to the size of people who bought the orange box, or left4dead even. Steam was still working out the kinks when HL2 was released, they have had plenty of time and experience preparing for events such as this. I don't really remember any slowdowns for the orange box or left4dead, or the two HL2 episodes and those were all highly anticipated.

We'll get a good indication during the demo download tomorrow i guess

DoW II was released today in Europe (yesterday for the US / Aus i believe). Have not gotten a copy myself, i have to wait until the shops open today, the #¤%# refused to sell me one yesterday even though they had it in stock (we cant sell it, publisher would go mad, blah blah)

Some users on the DoW II board has reported download speeds on the 0-day patch of 5 kb/sec over Steam, which i guess does not sound promising as i dont expect ETW's fanbase to be any smaller.

Will be interesting to see

I will likely be tearing my eyes out while it's being downloaded, regardless of how long it takes.
To Campo Mayor come, he had quietly sat down,
Just a fricassee to pick, while his soldiers sack'd the town,
When 'twas peste! Morbleu! Mon General,
Hear th'English bugle call!

I remember when the original half-life came out years before there was a steam... A magical time when pc games came in boxes that were unneccessarily large for the CD or CDs they contained. Back when hard drives were 20GB if you were lucky and people bought their games from Electronics Boutique or Funcoland. Yeah darn kid probably can't even remember 1998.

I plan on starting the download at 10 am CST (4 pm GMT) going to 2 classes, then lunch, then coming back. I'm hoping it will be done in the 3 hour or so time period.
