Thanks, Wessex is really tough! I'm not sure if there is something buggy with titles...tried to give a title (canterbury) with command upgrade to a one star general but he didn't get a second one...

That's certainly not a bug, it's actually a feature, the fact that your generals can only get 1 title each. In the classic MTW/VI way.
