PREVIEW 3:

WELCOME to the third preview of this Medieval 2 classical mod! Tonight we thought we'd show you something different. You've already seen unit screenhots, faction icons and design motifs, music pieces, and previews of some game concepts. Here we would like to make a focus on some of the building graphics you'll be seeing in Paeninsula Italica, snippets of event images, and further music from our excellent composer Garve.

BUILDING ICONS:

As is only natural, we'll be drawing on the large source of classical icons in RTW. But that doesn't mean we'll be taking something without our own completely different take on the subject! Behold -- the work of Mylae:

Barracks:

Professional military (additional experience and/or units, crucial for Gauls otherwise lacking in trained soldiery):
...

Missiles building, built up slowly like a barracks:

Roman missiles structure, with a different look and limited recruitment options:

Ports, opening up the chain for various naval improvements:

Gallic ports have their own version:

Professional navy (greek, etruscan, and punic):

Sea trade buildings; gallics get their own variety:
...

Academic (Greek level three opens major upgrades in law, military, seamanship, statuary, painting, and medical science):

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

City halls (or councils), the major legal administrative centers in a city:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Siege, one of the things opened up by high academics; only Greeks will be able to build machines and siege towers:

Athletics (greek and etruscan); romans have their own version:
...

Racing track (greek and roman):

Then you have stuff like, punic barracks:

Punic professional military:

Etruscan temples:

Etc.

EVENT GRAPHICS:

Here too, our Mylae did not let down. Here is a sample of the kinds of event images you may be able to see in the game:

Etruscan messenger:

The "Most advanced faction" event when playing as the Greeks:

A related image for the Romans, still very much a WIP, depicting a poem of Ennius:

Then there's always less-drastic tasteful changes, such as this port guarded by hoplites:

BATTLE SCREENSHOTS:

A deadly melee: Carthaginians (on the right) fighting some Sabines of central Italy

Macedonian phalanx beta screenshots

MUSIC:

We'll close our preview for today with an obligatory section of Garve's superlative musical compositions:

Here's a Hellenic pre-battle song:

Here are the Gauls, brandishing their drums and pipes during campaign mode:

We haven't heard that much of the Phoenicians yet, so here they are in their full martial ardor:

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty,
the tranquility of servitude greater than
the animating contest for freedom, go
home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you,
and may posterity forget that ye were
our countrymen."
