And a good rule of thumb for civitates is to read the styagma and follow this topic.

Also did we really need to bring this into the Symposium.

In these kind of situations it is best to keep a clear head. Dont post right away if something you read really angers you. Take a break from the thread and come back later when you have had some time to think about it. Clearly attacks on the integrity/reputation of this board need to be addressed, but we cannot allow ourselves to ruin that integrity in our defence of it!

i was a former top mTW modder, but i'm not into the RTW modding scene, i need to play the game more before i mod it. i was invited by my old friend, Lord of Storms, some time back to join a modding community seperate from all fansites simply for the development of modding, i fail to see what is wrong with people PMing members asking them to join. its called headhunting, be glad your modding talent was recognised enough to headhunt you.

futhermore, i've looked through the material here, and the material on the Org, and the material on the official site, and once again i would say your claim that TWC has the greatest modding centre is completetly unsupported. the org has a far greater range of resources and talent at its disposal, and my own queries about modding, merely to improve current gameplay, well, lets just say i found the answers i needed on the org, but not on TWC, and probably wouldn't have found the answer here without posting.

the modding community here is much improved over the MTW tiomezone, when i was the sole modder of any note, and the woirkshop ended up as my private domain to answer our members modding queries. i never produced any mods of my own, but instead worked on others peoples, the forum was pretty much a question and answer area on modding.

i'm glad thats it chnaged, i'm glad thats its changed for the better, and i'm glad to see a TWC modding team putti ng together their own work that i'm sure will be the equal of anything the rest of the modding community, both new and old put together.

however, i hate to see long term modders, and people who have put a lot of hard work and effort into modding the various games, and people and clans such as the Lords and their associates like Duke John and Lord of Storms whose names are renowned within the TW modding community for the hard work knowledge expertise and effort to be accused of doing everything that is a complete contradiction to their work and contributions to the modding community by a group of people who appear to be in effect, rank upstarts.

there is no question of people luring members away from fansites and recruiting people off our boards. members are free to go or stay as they choose, furthermore there is nothing to stop members having memberships on multiple fansites, i'm a case in point there, my nick can be seen on all the top TW sites except .net i simply post here the most because its my favourite board.

in the past there has been bad blood between various community sites, and until recently i thought that had ended.
its a pity to see that it seems TWC members, regardless of the actions of others are now attempting to fan the flames.

perhaps i should remind our growing modding community that the ethos of the mainstream TW modding community has always been the sharing and access to resources by all clans and groups for all clans and groups.
work published by .com members could be found on the org, tools made by org members uploaded on TWC and information posted and available to members of all sites regardless. the iidea of a single site that encompasses all that information seems to be an extremyl good idea to me, and would then leave various modding forums around the board free for modding groups on each board to work and develope thwir own mods using the modding communities information. the fact that until now the place where everything could be found has been the org is irrelevant, if that is changing, then so much the better, and if people want to advertise that fact, thats better yet, especially as there seems to be a scant lack of guides tutorials and modding walkthrus as well as general hints and tips on this site.

I just would wish that there is one centralized place where all mods, modders, and enthusiasts are welcomed. A place separate from all the established sites. This really doesn't have to get so political. Spliting the community has negative impact on its developement and moding, being part of it, suffers. I think that best thing to do is to establish a modding community where all ideas from all otherwise separate communites are shared and heard. I am not a modder (not by a long shot), but as an enthusiast I see this to be the best solution.
