So, I recognize that this is perhaps not historically accurate, but I'd still like to change it so girls are only of marrying age when they are older. Blame it on my modern sensibilities, but it just doesn't seem right when a 43 year old marries a 12 year old.

I suspect that this may be hardcoded, but if anyone knows where to look to change this part of the game, please let me know. Also, it seems like it may have something to do with each faction's culture. Some factions seem to marry earlier than others.

"43 year old marries a 12" this is impossible.....but the vice-versa is possible.......a marrage candidate can be even 5o of age just to marry some girl in the 14......

You can simply refuse the candidate if he appears to old (BTW, you can open the family tree, or any other window in RTW on such occasions; you must not decide at once). When I am not dramaticly short of characters I usually rejecet suitors over 25, when they are not exceptional good in anything.

Of course, you cannot prevent the men of your family from marriage with 'children'.

The coming of age for both boys and girls is not modifiable in RTW, but it is in MTW2.

As stated above, if your modern standards cause you to think of offers of marraige inappropriate due to age, simply refuse them.

I keep in mind that most of these offers are for political connection and have nothing to do with love. Procreation is only for heirs. If the candidate is well qualified, I accecpt, one time one of my girls was 28 before she married, all I was ever offered was duds.(not dudes).

Thanks to all.

I tend to wait until the girl is older before I accept a marriage proposal, but that doesn't have any impact on when male family members choose to marry.

Also, special thanks to Konny for explaining how to view the family tree before accepting a marriage proposal.

Like I said, this isn't a big deal, just something that makes my inside turn when I see the young girls getting married -- and, likewise, pregnant. (Ironically, the "slaughter city" button does not make my inside turn; what does that say about civilization?)

I tend to give the old-timers the boot simply because I prefer having generals and governors with a lot of "growth time". Seriously promising prodigies being a exception though.

Can't say the marriage ages ever particularly bothered me, but then again I've always been into historical and cultural relativism. It's not like there wasn't a lot of other stuff about the time we're talking about and its mores for modern sensibilities to have issues with anyway, were one so inclined, what with those abundant ghastly massacres, death-sentence slavery in the mines, brutal oppression, human sacrifice in some circles...

The age noblewomen get married in seems kinda minor in comparision you know ?

yeah... I've been tempted by some cool names as well, but a dud's a dud, so I end with boringly named but high stat husbands for my 12 year olds... unless the suitor is 16, then he is almost an automatic candidate, as I want my forty five years of service from each of them.... (twenty five military, twenty governorship - unless they die in battle!)
