    I tried to attach all the files but it over exceeded the 1MB max limit so I'll just walk you through it. Before you do anything, backup your files just to be safe.

    1) Open up export_units.txt in the text folder add this to the bottom:

    {byzantine_heavy_spear_descr}The byzantine heavy spearmen are elite units armed with long spears and swords - made up of veteran troops and are well equipped. They carry their shields strapped on their backs when in close formation to have both hands free to use their spears. But if needed, they can draw swords and take off the shield from their backs, fighting as heavy sword infantry.
    {byzantine_heavy_spear_descr_short}The byzantine heavy spearmen are armed with long spears and swords, being very versatile troops, effective against both infantry and mounted units.
    2) Add the ui folder that came with LAca's mod.

    3) In the LAca's unit_models folder, go ahead and add the _Units folder. Open up the SS modeldb file and overwrite the first line:

    5) Add in LAca's unit_sprites folder.

    6) Grab the attached export_descr_buildings.txt and export_descr_unit.txt files at the bottom and place them in your SS/data folder. For the Byzantine Heavy Spearmen EDU stats, I tried to balance them out as much as I could. If you find better stats to give them, let me know.

    Trajan, thank you so much, it is working.
    There is couple of questions tho... Why doesn't the spearmen have animations like normal spearmen?
    They seem to be keep stabbing, i tried disabling the other weapon, it worked, but the thing is, they are overpowered,
    they just stab and kills, i killed 500 men without losing one single unit. So, what's going on?
    How do you disable the curved sword and have them fight like normal spearmen?

    PS:I think it has something to do with battle_model, when it says MTW2_Pike, MTW2_Pike_primary
    i tried changing it but no luck.

    Just got your numidian skins and I was very much impressed. If you can, would you also make skins on perhaps camel archers and horse archers to round out the numidian army? Historical accuracy really isn't necessary, besides straying a little when creating new projects gives way to innovative and creative ideas. Thanx! I'll keep the heavy spearmen in reserve when I install my BI.

    Well they have the 2 handed anim because i made it so from the start. You could try lowering the primary weapons attack (it is 9, i copy pasted the french pikemen stats in the edu, i left the attack factor untouched.) With the schiltrom formation they do look a bit overpowered. But i intended them as an elite unit anyway.

    I confirm it works. I confirm they look great. Awesome work!

    But they need some more editing as far as SS is concerned. SS adds guard pikemen for Byzantium who are weaker and less elite than those spearmen, those spearmen are available much sooner than guard pikemen though. It would be nice to move them up to the highest level barracks and make max 3 of them available at a time.

    Also it would be much better for them if they didn't resign from using their shield when using spears but i suppose it's a no-go for the author who chose it the other way round.

    Anyway, Byzantium just needed such an unit. It was a blank spot in their roster and i'm glad it's now covered. :-)

    I did everything of the above but it keeps not finding the byz heavy spearmen . HELP I also use SS 4.0 edu file but NOT the ss 4.0 mod( i use the edu in another mod )

    by far the greatest and most beautiful units i ve played with

    they look real, so much

    ---are you making different categories for this units, perhaps only as swordsmen (to avoid switching with the pike..) or archer, cavalry...?---

    sixela, if your not using SS, i suppose it won't work.. not sure tho, go play SS, there is no better major mod that has been released

    LAca , i have to say this is the best unit ever created so far. , i'm really enjoying it. Say are you going to maybe consider doing the same texture
    but another alternate version with the curved sword? cause wow man, then this package is complete

    But the unit was not made to work with ss 4.0 only! Anyway i dont like "full of bugs "mods... If there is a patch then i ll give it a try

    What's the problem exactly? Is it saying that in the export_descr_unit.txt, it can't find the soldier model battle "byzantine_heavy_spear"?

    Hey, it could be the serial archive because it's different in SS right? that's why you had trouble with it

    I tried doing exactly what you said but when I start up SS my game goes to a black screen and doesn't do anything. I have to hit escape to exit.

    Edit: Fixed it. Trajan's modeldb stuff is wrong since he updated the unit to be 1h spear. This is what you should put at the bottom instead.

    Ok, so you're using the one handed spear version. The info I posted on the top is for the two handed.

    Any comments on the one handed version? I'm interested to know whether their fighting effectiveness with one spear is better than the two.

    Sorry iam getting CTD..s from your mod... as well i dont know if its other problem.. iwa s playing campain game. 1.2 patch installed. and Byz spearman mod installed.. i was in a battle against HRE, and it crashed when general their died, i tryed 2 times. it happen CTDed at different time.. please help, i really like your unit, and i really want to play the game. SS4.0 has too much errors and CTDs.. for byz empire.. so i dont even considering touching it anymore, unless they make a new patch. but i would still rather play your byztin mod.

    The tga.dds missing stuff happened to me sometimes (i think it was the unofficial patch) but i could play nonetheless, no ctd from that. I experienced ctds in certain points of the game (randomly, but if i saved the game just before that turn, it ctd ed every time) with or without mods.
    Did the ctd occur in just one point of the game or in several different occasions?

    The modeldb installing thing...
    1. Add the data provided by Trajan to the end of the modeldb (be careful though, do not add or remove spaces from the ends of lines),
    2. Increase YOUR number with 2 (the 801 number is ss4 modeldb specific!, remember the default game has 701). Look at YOUR modeldb's first line and increase the number with 2 (e.g. if u use the unmodded vanilla game, you should have 701+2=703).

    hey .. LOca... iam enjoying .. the game .. buT... for some reason i wasnt able to build your havey unit...
    i fixed that crash problem.. by disabeling the game Cut scene, when general dies or door opens and stuff like that .. Right lets get back to the point.
    whats happening is .. int he Export Building doc.. i can see you put heavy spearman buildable in large city, and huge city. well i couldnt find it in the recuirtment section, and the varaincan guard guy is still there. i tryed putting heavy spearman buildable in castels.. but there still no recuirtment avaliable, i was wondering have you tested it.. or is there any way to solve this problem.. ive aready spent a lot of time in this game. Lol.. where is your elite unit.. .
