Both (defending a bridge crossing and using the corner of the map) make it easier for the player to win the battle.
Having said that I'm quite happy to defend a bridge crossing when my army is outnumbered by 2:1 odds or greater.
I guess the same is also true of defending the corner as it prevernt the AI from attacking your rear/flanks. However, I don't think I've ever done that.
In the dim and distant past I've stopped a massed Roman invasion of Macedon by defending the river drossings while launching a naval invasion of Italy while the main Roman armies are tied up on my borders in northern Greece. Taking out their hime territory does reduce their ability to produce more reinforcements.....

Spoiler for King of Persia:
Im trying to find out for the last couple of days wher is that thread where people used to post screenshots with the main actions in a battle and do some comments regarding them. I cant recall if pertains only to RS 2 or its a general TW thread. Pls help !
You can do it in this thread but perhaps you are refering to AAR´s ? Or the Post your empires thread.

damn now its like finding the needle in a haystack. Nope its not post your empires and AAR. It was like I described above : commented screenshots with the main actions from a battle.
Are you thinking of those threads that pop up sometimes where someone posts a picture of the current state of the world in their campaign and comments on it and such? Or am I way off?
People have done what you're talking about in this thread before. You ought to check with the mods, but I would say feel free.
