Default House of Cards (Netflix original series)

    First Episode

    IMDB

This is the new original series from Netflix. Kevin Spacey is in the lead role as Frank Underwood, a US Congressman from South Carolina.

I'm nine episodes into the thirteen episode first season and it's very good so far. Pretty high production values and good acting. Has anyone else been watching this?

Not original by any means, it is a "remake" and one doubts that it would be as good as the original as it was written with the British political system in mind.
But then I would be somewhat biased being a Brit.
Wonder how they are going to do "To play the King" is the U.S.A suddenly becoming a monarchy or gain a new style Head of State?

Does it get better as it goes on? I couldn't get through the first episode.

Good point about it being a remake. With the way the first season ends he'll be hard pressed to advance further, but they did a good job adapting it to American politics.

Yeah, it picks up. The first two episodes really set up the rest of the season.

Just a question, is this thread open to talk about the original series? I haven't seen it and so I don't know what happens. If it is, it'd be good to have the heads up so I can avoid the thread.

I started it for the Netflix one, but I see no reason why not. I'm kind of interested in the British one now that I've seen this one.

Well, I went ahead and watched House of Cards. It's leagues ahead of the American version and Francis Urquhart is far more ruthless and sinister and evil.

Do you know if there's a place to watch online legally for an American?

Proving a great watch so far. And that soundtrack is just so sexy.

Holy , Kevin Spacey is ballsey. Context: Kevin Spacey was kicked off House of Cards after sexual assault allegations were made against him. This meant the entire script for the last season had to be rewritten, and he was killed offscreen and the entire season was terrible (although to be fair, the season before him was terrible as well).
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Saying "I've already beaten the stuff I was guilty of, you know I'll beat the stuff I never did, so you better let me back on to House of Cards" is sure to fly well with Netflix and the judge in his case/s.

yeah, he was kicked off the show a while ago, but lets be honest: this was painfully transparent pandering the moment it first aired.

i know republicans are scum. i know most people in DC are hardly any better. i dont need a painfully unsubtle villain to affirm my predjudice.

To be fair Underwood was a Democrat.

Though someone that corrupt transcends any formal party designations.

yeah, thats were the hardly any better part comes in.

maybe thats just me, but his acting was screaming "bad guy" all the fcking time, whats the point if the character isnt a little two-faced at least?

Why do we give a about spacey in this forum?

I have seen the original, and whilst the first season was great, the second and third seasons were a bit iffy imo.
Also I see you're a man of culture and prefer little baby jesus to adult jesus

Because we can respect his acting abilities seperate from the allegations against him. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

Nah. The dude got blacklisted a year ago. Innocent until proven guilty is a court principle, not a business one. Businesses are under no obligation to stick their necks out by hiring him. Don't cross the streams. Why necro this thread for that bizarre as video and not the accusations themselves? This smells like dog on your part.
