If you want, I can order all the parts for you and build you a computer. All you have to do is pay me
"X" amount for parts X amount for shipping and like idk $50 for the time it takes to order and build it (it takes like 2-3 hours to build) I can get you a top of the line computer for under $1000 |

Which is why he steered clear of alienware. Thanks for the example though, I was waiting for someone to do the footwork and prove how overpriced the brand is.

@sambasan i have some thought regards what you suggested. if it were me and i wanted a rig for a 24inch that will run everything at max i would go for intel and a 5870 with a processor that can overclock and a mobo that supports sli or crossfire. you want to overclock to max your performance and with a 5870 this is around 3.6ghz or more. 5870's in xfire are bottlenecked with a corei7 @3.8ghz so therefore you want a chip that can go over if you decide you want bags of perf. that is a 920 do chip or similar (the one i listed). you need a decent aftermarket cooler to do that. amd is fine but generally you wont get up to the same speeds as an intel. so if you want to save money go for an amd but dont go for xfire or sli. saying that the latest amd chips coupled with a 5870 would be fine and would save you some money. however i dont think perf will be as high with a 920/870. that is debatable and something i havent tested personally. you dont want old tech for gpu. a 260 whilst a good card isnt enough for 1920x1200 and the 5800's are dx11 ready. dx11 titles will be coming out so for me it makes no sense to buy older cards. it's a shame nvidia hasnt released its dx11 cards. also an ssd is by quite a margin a lot faster than a normal hd so I was going to drop over 1000 bucks on a pc I would def get one around 60gb minimum and run all my game off it and then have a normal hd for storage. moreover an antec 300 is too small for i think for a high-end rig. i do think the op should consider something like a fast amd chip with a 22inch screen and a 5850. this would save money and provide great perf as well. it comes down to the question do you want the extra screen size of a 24inch or dont mind the smaller 22inch which meands you dont need as much gpu horsepower and therefore saves you money. after owning a 295 empire isnt friendly at all with this card. 5870 runs cooler and quieter whilst almost matching perf. oh and you want windows 7 really for os. just so u know am not making any of this up my specs are corei7 920 @3.8ghz on a noctua heatsink with 1xdelta fan and a 1x noctua (max temps around 60c). 5870. 6gb corsair dominators (1600mhz). wd velociraptor 300gb. samsung 750gb. optiac cd writer. benq241w 24inch screen. haf932 case. asus p6t deluxe mobo. I have looked at Ibuypower, cyberpower, and i have heard that they have a bad rep as far as fixing broken items and bad customer sevice. i have been looking at Digital storm and Vigor, which I hear have good reputations.

For Pointers if your going to build your own system
don't forget to add on Anti Static Strap if you going to build your own. (help prevent static Discharges) also learn how to update Bios(some boards will be out of date), and learn Bios Settings to get the best of what you got, Yes that means Volts, and Timings all play a major factor in how good/stable you system will be. Also don't mix Nickle and Gold Connections. ie Nickle Slot with a Gold memory Connection. if this is done the parts will degrade/corrode and will fail in time. Gold is the best and stick to one Type. So there's more to just slapping parts together, hence the Price difference. Your paying for the Engineer to construct/test and warranty. And no i don't build systems for a business nore do i wish to work for a business in constructing machines, they just could not afford my time. |
