attack sweden. dont let one nation become too powerful.

block them up in the baltic, and use your land forces to support the dutch, especially around their capital and the rhineland. do NOT use your forces aggressively. let the swedes waste their men on the dutch fortifications (backed by your armies), only then should you attack their lands.

instead, use your navy to blockade the swedish trade lanes, and supplement your fragile economy. redeploy 2-3 stacks (at your own risk) from the americas to reinforce europe, and (if you so wish) give the dutch some lands in germany (if you can conquer them from sweden), to boost their economy and hopefully increase their standing armys size.

dont go into russia, too big. instead if you can) drive them back to scandanavia and russia, conquering germany and poland, and dividing the territories. this will split the power of the region and effectively kill swedish power.

do it in stages if you cant sustain a campaign indefenitely. make peace after taking germany, then attack poland in a mecha-blitzkrieg. who cares if its dishonourable? winning is whats important here.

if you pull it off, you will probably become the dominant power in the world (with marathas and the dutch) in some form of triumvirate =D

good luck mate

Get your rakes out there scouting-I bet a lot of those "full" stacks with ragged flags have 20 units.....of ten men each.
"I'll tell you what rule sir....we applied Rule 303. We caught them and we shot them under RULE THREE OH THREE!"

"Shoot straight you bastards, don't make a mess of it!"

Quite refreshing. A question about the game as such, and not bugs or what have you.

You should smash UP first if you can keep Sweden out of the war. Then replentish your armies and increase your armies with the ressources you gain from conquering the UP. After that, Sweden is next in line.

Good luck, you will need it. They seem quite powerfull.

You should play a defensive now, until he loses his attacking armies, and then go counter-attack.

Historically, the England made it a policy to side with the weaker faction in any fight to keep any one nation from getting to big. I'd say go all in with the UP.

This is not true; Moscow is the most important city in any campaign against Russian lands. And it is 1 turn away from the coast. Land, capture, destroy, retreat. The Swedish armies will not have time to react to this as they will be the ones hampered by distance, and you'll be gone by the time they get there. Let them take Muscovy, but destroy every building there. You can then forget about it for the rest of the campaign, it's not going to give the Swedish anything but grief. It may even rebel from them, and Russia may re-emerge.

I'm not sure where people got the idea that to attack Russia, you need to go and attack every settlement. Go for Moscow, and it's over. With this strategy, you can also attack St. Petersburg at the same time.

I would've stayed out of the war, but given all available technology, a little piece of land, money and indefinite military access to UP so they could've gone to war in your stead. Remain neutral - but biased.
"It was a freak of fancy in my friend (for what else shall I call it?) to be enamored of the Night for her own sake; and into this bizarrerie, as into all his others, I quietly fell; giving myself up to his wild whims with a perfect abandon. The sable divinity would not herself dwell with us always; but we could counterfeit her presence. At the first dawn of the morning we closed all the messy shutters of our old building; lighting a couple of tapers which, strongly perfumed, threw out only the ghastliest and feeblest of rays. By the aid of these we then busied our souls in dreams - reading, writing, or conversing, until warned by the clock of the advent of the true Darkness. Then we sallied forth into the streets arm in arm, continuing the topics of the day, or roaming far and wide until a late hour, seeking, amid the wild lights and shadows of the populous city, that infinity of mental excitement which quiet observation can afford."

Lol... this would obviously be the smart thing to do, but we're playing Empire Total War aren't we?

Glad to see you attacked Sweden >

Did anyone else notice that the guy who i'm quoting has a Swedish flag as an avatar and said not to go to war? I think that's incredibly ironic and hilarious
