@Boboav, the order doesnt matter but just remember after you changed the dimension size to have the direction arrow selected before you hit Ok. A couple times I click too fast and the arrow unselects itself.

@druvatar The program is still very useful despite the strange crash I keep getting with geomod. I have only got it twice btw. Both times geomod saves all my work.
The restrictions btw are hardcoded into the game. No higher than 1021X1021 Hardcoded list

I have run into crashes with geomod when trying to cut a map. Basically I slip another mods base files into my mod folders base files. For example vanillas base files. I only take certain files, mainly the tgas and the terrain file. Then I load with geomod. There wont be any regions but where the regions use to be will be many different colors. Before I resize to avoid a crash I delete all characters and resources (although not always neccessary) and fill in all the regions and islands. Before you resize make only one region. Otherwise - I suspect - geomod will crash if it detects too many unknown colors.

This version works well too, you shouldn't be sceptical. MathiasOfAthens' CTDs are due to its bugged mod (blurred maps). The restrictions about the resizing function are the same as manual modding, nothing else (max 510*510 for map_regions and max 1021*1021 for map_heights etc., anyway Geomod takes care of that known limit so that you can't resize the map beyond the limit).

I have got a bug:

A novice with Geomod gave me his creation and the following happens:
- Error message that the descr_region is possibly corrupt
- freeze at 79% while loading in Geomod after that message

I have checked the comma issue with the resources in descr_strat, but can't find anything. Where should I look? And what for?

@ boboav, well you just have to draw the terrains on the terrain map, the heights on the height map and the regions on the region map, as usual. Water is default because Geomod can't guess what you want to extend.

@ gigantus, you should check the resources in descr_regions, it is maybe a comma problem somewhere. If you can't get it, just send me his creation.

There were multiple listings of the same trading resource. Geomod accepts the descr_regoins now, but it still freezes at 79%. That's the resources in the descr_strat, isn't it?

Just removed those resources in the descr_strat and it worked, happy hunting I guess.

Well maybe, 79% means the beginning of the descr_strat. You could maybe delete all the resources (after backup) and see if it still freezes. If it still freezes then it is not a resource problem, it doesn't freeze anymore then it was a resource problem, you could then reinsert the resources twenty by twenty to see what makes it freeze.

That's what I did. Then I added them back 20 at a time. Just couldn't find the error with a comma - there was none! It was a typo: slave instead of slaves.

Thank you boboav.

BinEditor v3.0 released.

- code completely rewritten
- carriage return debugged
- menu instead of buttons
- bigger window
- merge with another file
- eliminate duplicates
- move up/down arrows
- small help file
- new icon

The new "merge with" and "eliminate duplicates" functions are particularly usefull. I have just merged all 4 export_unit.txt.strings.bin from the 4 kingdoms campaigns so as to import the unit names and descriptions in my mod. It worked perfectly well and it takes me only one minute!

Since it was completely rewritten, it must be completely retranslated, but it is only 36 entries. The README file should be translated as well.

New version of Geomod coming soon.

Here attached are the french files:

Cool, whats new this time around Oct.

Oct, I downloaded your fr files for bin editor, extracted it with rar and it opened in english? Odd? Before I extracted the files they opened in french though.

Anyway I love the look of the new bin editor.

I think the program you used for the bin editor, automatically translates to the computer that it is installed on.

I installed version 3 over the old one, and it is in french, so I'll have to wait for a translation.
