Presents

a new preview about Britannia and its factions

responsible for this preview

responsible for this brand new preview

empio
our unit-maker (includes modelling and texturing as well as historical research of weapons, equipment, banners etc...)
- simply the star of our team -

and

Pompeius Magnus
team-leader, military unit development, coding, customized settlement plans and 2D work (includes our new interface which is shown in that preview)

What do you see the next minutes?
You see a new preview of our Britannia-set. The focal point are the Saxons, some Dal Riada units, one pictish unit, and the Britanni. Let me clearly say that the shown units are NOT complete. Several units are not shown in our new preview.
...
It is well known that the post-Roman British factions were not united (or those who thought they were Romans). Anyway, some tales suggest that some of the Britanni were indeed united for some years (even if the kingdoms stayed independent) under the banner of a strong leader at the end of the 5th - beginning of the 6th century. And that makes this scenario very interesting.

new interface

Our new interface

Finally, after nealry 3 weeks of intensive pixelation-work, endless experimentations with new textures and the location of the RTW buttons (which are partially completely different compared to M2TW) - we have finished our new interface.

This new interface is an emulation (a copy if you want) of the M2TW interface. However - as mentioned above - it was required to change nearly all operation-fields because the buttons are located completely different.

The layout in general was not matching that of RTW/BI. But we love the design of M2TW (and it is indeed matching the idea of a dark age) and so, finally, we made the first conversion of the M2 interface - transported to BI.

...enjoy...

The Strat-map interface

more customized settlements

the idea of including new buildings - and the creation of more historical cities like Konstantinoupolis, Ravenna, Rome, Jerusalem and Soisson leds me to the idea to make more n' more cutstomized settlements with post-roman cities and villages.

Historical sources suggest that a certain group of romanized Britanni still lived in the ancient city of Londinium (late 6th century).
I think the word "co-existence" describes it were well if you want explain the relationship between the Romans (minority), romanized celts (majority) and the new Lords of the eastern part of Britannia - the Saxones.

There is simply no evidence that big proportions of Romans were killed after the Saxons invaded the country. It seems that the urban life continued, the Roman "way-of-life" still existed, even in the Saxon controlled areas. Anyway, new germanic settlements were established near the ancient cities. And after some years the old Roman cities became deconstruced (even if people were living there).

What you see on the next screenshots is such a typically post-roman city, even if we "estimate", "guess" and use hypothetical sources I'm pretty sure that the reality comes close to that what we have prepared.

Question: What does it mean for the game?
Answer: it simply means that a lot of cities in Ages of darkness 2 have its own individual design, his own buildings, his own character. No more clone-cities!

enjoy our post-Roman London

post-roman London (Caer Lundein)

last words
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my team for the amazing work in the last 1,5 years and I hope we can keep our teams' spirit and the fun. It is a hobby which needs a lot of time - and I know very well what it means to handle family, job, friends, football and AoD2.

Ages of darkness 2 is the mirror of the complete team, the result of endless hours of modding, the work of history-loving-people.

Best regards
Pompeius Magnus

...
the team
new music tracks
apple & RJcfc (free member)

our unit maker and the star of the AoD2-team with the by far best units I ever saw concerning love for details and textures
empio

preparing of AoD part 3, research of Muslim faction, research of kindom of Hira
jermagon

our building-model maker with extremly amazing results. Due to that guy Konstantinople become real in AOD2 - and of course other cities get also their "specials"
Wundai

the texture specialist for our new 3D buildings
Karlo'St

research and helping hands
Naughteous Maximus (our 1st team member) & Lord Willy & William the Silent

banners for the tactical view (battle mode)
pacco (free member)

guest of honour and advisor
Thor the Bassist

...and myself...
General concept, teamleading, co-ordination, historical research, interface, faction symbols, coding in general (including new settlement plans/anys/traits as well as EDU+DMB) , loading screens, mapping+map concept, ... and other stuff

many thanx to our free members and supporters like

Ramashan

AoD2 offers jobs

You want work for AoD2 and join the great team?
No, problem!
Just write a private message to me (or post here and I will contact you)

What we need
texture-specialists (with experiences in UV-mapping) for our new buildings. A lot of 3D building-models are finished, however, somebody has to paint them.

Coder with knowlegde about the export_descr_unit file to improve our units' stats.

Coder for historical-events (you don't have to find events, this is done, but you need the knowledge to transport that into the beta.

a portrait maker for the generals' portraits

Basically we have guys who can make that (including me), but there is a lot of work to do and we need all supporters to improve our modding-speed.

Just WOW ... i was a lucky one to see already some pics in a pm by PompMag, but the preview-posts make the achievements splendid.

As i'll stop my active (public) modding latest at the end of this year, i'll make an exception in case of AoDII, just in case you'll need some help/advice ie. for the tech-tree balancing, start-situation-balancing, certain scripting or perhaps traits.
PM, just pm me, if i shall take a look through codes some day in future, and if there is something to do for what you have then no time or sense - would need of course access to the build then, or just certain files, and would need the necessary time to help, so a bit coordination will be necessary.
Maybe you can win Athenogoras as well for some combat-balancing in future, imo. the best combat balancer at this time in regard of historical-realism mods and especially AI consideration ( he is quite unknown, but he is ).

Edit: This preview should get a frontpage announcement, of course.

Released TW Modifications:
For Rome Total War & Barbarian Invasion Chivalry I TW | The Medieval Total Conversion
For Medieval 2 Total War/Kingdoms Chivalry II SV | The Multiple Era Campaign Project
For Empire TW Empire Realism | The Reflecting History & Improving Gameplay Project
For Barbarian Invasion William the Conquerer | Norman Invasion Episode-Submods

Hi DV
Good to hear you like it and that it causes the retreat from the retreat
...
But seriously, of course it would be great if you can handle those trait stuff. I will contact you soon with the beta-files of AoD2.

Concerning Atheno: yes, you're right. I know he is the best and I hope he can help us to improve the units' stats. I hope he has the time.

Frontpage:
this is requested to Trajan ... I hope this will happen soon

Love these units +rep
Wanted for:
