check out the witcher.
Oblivion is a good game, you can personalize your character's traits to match the style of gameplay you have. I personally don't use any magic because I think it is crap...and destroy any wizard/magician who threatens me.
The best first person medieval game I have played is War and Warriors:Joan of Arc
It is actually really good and allows you to lead soldiers and fight as one. The graphics are okay but the game itself takes a while to beat. However, there is no multiplayer.
I heard there is some hundred years war game coming out. I dont know much about it.
The only other decent medieval first person that I can think of is Siege a mod for bf 1942. I havent played but supposedly its good. But you need bf1942.

There was a game coming out in which your life and environment effected your character and his life
If you were scarred in battle you werent selected for strained diplomatic missions but if you wanted to scaremonger you would be selected. You can lose limbs and if you spend too much time in the pubs then you get fat and slow
