    Default changing faction

    Quick question - what files would I need to edit in order to change a faction to something else in SS3.2 and is this possible or will it screw up some of the scripts that run in the background? What I want to do is just change a current faction to something else, give them one starting area which is currently a rebel town in the begining. Change the names/pics of faction members and maybe the units they get. Thanks in advance...

    Hi monad,

    Well, theoretically you can change the factions as you like.
    The starting settlements, units, characters are all defined in the descr_strat.txt file. This shouldn't be a problem and also doesn't make a difference for the scripts.

    Changing the pics also won't affect the game in any way.
    You can also change the names in the descr_strat file, but make sure that these names are also defined in the descr_names.txt.
    Adding other faction's units isn't so easy, but when you need any specific help, pm me and I'll try to answer soon...
