    Default Faction List

    EDIT 12/27/10

    This list will be updated soon. I have closed the thread because people can't seem to follow directions. I am NOT taking suggestions for factions to add. Repeat...I am NOT taking suggestions for factions to add. I am also not interested in hearing which factions are "worth" adding and which factions are not. Whether or not people seem to realize this, I have studied history for the majority of my life. My academic training is in history. I am well aware of all of your objections. Some of them have some merit, but most of them are merely argumentative. At any rate, as I have said before, this mod is primarily to satisfy my personal needs. anyone else who would like to play is also welcome.

    If anyone has constructive criticism, they may feel free to leave it in the appropriate thread. However, please do not clutter up my other threads with comments about what you think are ahistorical aspects of the mod or which factions should or should not be included. Such comments will be deleted. I am sorry that this is what it has come to.

    I decided to make a Faction list for everyone to see, so that there would be less misunderstandings.

    I hope that LC or Fra will edit the list if I forgot something or put some thing wrong. I don't know the exactly names so I just put them like "Burgundy" and so on. You can fix it later

    great new factions especially the burgundians, welsh, and toulouse

    SACK THE AZTECS -
    don't you think it would be a good idea to sack the aztecs and add another faction such as: the swedish, norwegians, georgians, alans, or another rusian princiaplity. and also by sacking the aztecs you could ditch the americas and add more focus on the real topic, Mediaval Europe and other areas in a close perimiter.

    AFRICA OR MORE OF ASIA? - you could add more focus on the plains of asia, the deserts of the mid east, or the deserts of africa by getting rid of the americas.
    AFRICA-
    one of these african kingdoms could be added: the Mali empire, Kanem empire, ethiopian kindom(zagwe dynasty), bornu empire. apply more pressure on egyptians or the moors.
    MIDDLE EAST-
    could also focus on middle east by adding khwarezmian empire, kingdon of georgia, the crusader states, or could also break up the turks into states which would bring more interest into the east because personally i belive that the east gets neglected and moders focus a lot more on the italians, germans, english, spanish or you could just sum it up as the west.
    PLAINS OF ASIA-
    could also add the Kievan rus, lithuanians, finnish, alans, or tartars. these would slow down the russians or the mongols, because they always expand to fats in my book.
    OTHERS-
    swedish, bohemians, norwegians, belgium, swiss, or berbers

    We are not planning to expand the map.

    I agree with monkeyman about those aztecs. Who needs them anyway?
    We cold have 4 new provinces and one new Faction if we would remove them.
    Besides I have never seen in the game that AI would invade the Americas


    We could add Sweden or the much requested Georgia to replace them.
    Or perhaps the Kievan Rus or Bohemia

    Yeah, I know...

    The problem is this

    ...if there is no New World, the Campaign has to end sooner
    ...if there is no New World, the Map will need to be redone
    ...these changes will require major revisions to the script
    ...these changes will delay the release of this mod

    I had originally toyed with the idea of getting rid of them, but I don't know...

    I guess it is something to think about. Maybe we should have a super secret discussion in the dev forum, eh Heretic?

    well the campaign would only have to end at the time columbus discovered the new world and thats only about 40 years. redoing the map, i know would take work but would improve it by getting rid of the huge void that is the atlantic and also allow you to improve the greatly deprived east. Yes it would take a little longer for the mod to release but it would be all that much better for gameplay. and adding a new faction that actully: attacks other factions, is able to be played as, and actually has the same game play. If you play as the aztecs and you build another wall you cant recruit or build anything else, its boring.

    just wondering would you be able to crop off the americas and leave the rest?

    if there is anything i could do i would be happy to help and the only thing i'm good at is history

    It is really only 40 years and who cares about them?

    I am going to play with 0.50 timescale anyway, and we could make the time scale 1.00 so 40 years wouldn't have so big effect

    if you cut that 40 years we should have to remove all the muskets , all the arquebusers , half of the guns because you really dont belive that they were used in the XV century right ???
    From east we have added Armenian and Kipchaks ...thats enough .
    I really more interested playing some european state like serbia or Burgundy or IReland that another horse archers factions :S

    timescale is one thing that I am not going to budge on. It is so irritating to me that character age improperly. It has to be 0.50.

    Fra. I have finished 3 campaigns with that and after I finish my own map enlargement work I Will play more.
    And besides if you don't like it, yust mod the timescale on your own.

    @LC
    If we're going to use 0.50, we have to set new win conditions for the Factions. In 900 turns it is awfully easy to have 50 regions, And with our map it would be even easier. I suggest that we change it to 70-80 regions OR keep it 50 (or whatever it is) and figure out something new like: Outlive Factions or Take all regions in France, or something like that

    I tried to make the faction list so that factions on the same area would be in the same lines, if you get what I mean.

    HF maybe arrange the post showing what factions are playble andn ot playable cause we aren't making Toulouse playable are we i cant remember well

    We will be adjusting the victory conditions significantly. I'm not sure how, but we will do it.

    All of the factions that are available at the beginning of the game will be playable...except the Papal States, of course.
