How do the battles compare?

Hey,

I won't be able to play the mod for a few months and I was wondering how the battles compare to the previous version of the mod?

They are really improved. The AI is smarter the battles are longer. Overall a hell of alot more fun.

why can't u play this mod for a couple of months? If u don't mind me asking

Thanks for the reply, could you elaborate further? Are they really long fights with the enemy and you lose a fair amount of men regardless of skill? Have you lost any legions yet?

And I don´t mind you asking, I´m on my gap year which basically means I´m on the otherside of the world, Buenos Aires.

Basically what we've done is improve morale all round so units take longer to rout as well as changes to units defence and attack. You should end up losing plenty of men. I've had some battles with free peoples that have lasted 25-30 minutes or so.

In my last campaign I lost 8 legions to the free people.

Well what I've seen so far hoplite vs hoplite fights are much longer. Not that it's bad i was getting tired of just killing 3 enemys and they run away like little girls. But as to how other factions play, not sure. But I'm prolly gonna start a Rome campaign now.

Battles are MUCH better; the Romans, while still having AWESOME units, have a harder time "dominating" than in Vanilla (I didn't do RS till patch 10 on Friday

) and you really have to think out different strategies in army buildup for your various enemies; i.e. with Hellenic factions have heavy velite/cavalry armies, the velites to harrass the Phalanax and the cavalry to protect from the awesome Greek cavalry. Have of course infantry to hold the line when the phalanax's do finally reach you, but those Velites are priceless, lemme tell you; Then you fight Barbarians in teh north you need a more standard legion, plenty of heavy infantry, cavalry, and less velites as they are more easily pursued by the light Gaelic warriors.

In short, AWESOME BATTLES! the RS team did great!
