Well some people's definition of almost is differant to other peoples. Stop being a definition nazi.
Anywho, I never played Fallout 1 or 2 so I hope Bethesda isn't doing a 'reimagining' rather than a sequel, lest some posters here go on a bombing campaign. Personally, I rather like the idea of a post-apocalyptic Oblivion, but I realise I'm in a minority*.

Under the patronage of Nihil. So there.
I bought a combination package of Fallout 1 & 2 in... '99? '00? I can't remember. It was a long time ago. If you really want to be a stickler for definitions Praxil I will go back and edit my post to say "more than 5 years ago" instead.
Got to the Boneyard yesterday. I got the Blades some weapons and together we stuck it to those Regulators. That is, after 1.5 hours of turn-based combat of which I only spent about 5 actual minutes interacting with the game.
Turn-based is t3h pwnz0r!!111!
The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.

You can turn the speed up in the options menu, to where NPC's take their turns at super speed. That would cut that 1.5 hours down to less than half. I always turned it on, or else combat would be slow and boring.
And you are right that turn based is awesome.

Uh, huh... Funny that I missed that. I knew about the fast AI in Tactics...

everything ive seen from the concept art tells me fallout 3 will take place in eastern USA on the other side of the rockies-- you may or may not be a vault dweller but I am hopeful that they are gonna do it justice-- cant wait for the full trailer.
The artwork at http://fallout.bethsoft.com/ makes it look like it will take place on the east coast, specifically around the DC area.
And apparently there is will be a teaser coming out in a week!

It'll definitely be interesting to see what they do with the game thats for sure. Having not played Fallout myself (for some odd reason, I've always wanted to), I can't really say much on the turn based debate. I would however like to see a game in its setting. I love all things post apocalyptic basically
If it does turn out to be fairly FPS/TPS orientated I personally wouldn't mind, so long as its a fairly complex RPG affair (i.e. not dumbed down Oblivion style), having no nostalgia tying up my opinion. But the fans of the genre count far more than me in my opinion, so I'd say it should be far more what they want than Fallout virgins.
Concept art looks great
looks very nice.
Like the carrier pic.
I LOVE the Fallout series. Great games indeed.I simply cant wait for F3, but damn I hope they do it right. Wonder if they'll bring back the "bloody mess" trait skill?
Good stuff.
And I also agree...turn-based rules! Especially in this type of setting.

I never really liked Fallout. It looks like a great game, but the theme just isn't my type. My friend was a complete addict and loaned me the game. I would try to play sometimes, but the atmosphere was just too creepy for me. I don't know, i have always been freaked out by such post-apocalyptic games. Especially if it has anything to do with nuclear war and radiation. I played Stalker for about a week, and then never again. Mutants and destroyed cities are not to my liking. I had nightmares after playing Fallout 2 sometimes.
Radiation is scary stuff.
Ill see, maybe if it's more like an Oblivion type game, ill consider trying it out at least. I really liked Oblivion, but then again, the atmosphere will still make it very unpleasant for me.
Anti-state, anti-war, free market
Pretty much expected teaser, didn't hold my breath. Nothing new about gameplay, so basically it's worthless. Anyway feels like copy and paste of F1 intro... In a good way of course, has detailed sounds and good color set, but...
"What? Huh? Oil? Who said something about oil, ***** you cooking?"
"The United States of Space, coz I ain’t stopping at the Moon. Write this down, M… A… R… S… MARS *****es. That’s where we are going, Mars, red rocks!"
Probably not as much of a minority as those of us..well, those 3 of us (now 2, as the fans got to Freddie. Poor Freddie, we told him not to venture out of the bunker without a gun) who liked Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of steel.![]()
I would have preferred Fallout Tactics mixed with Fallout 1 and 2. Not pure turn base but continual turn base, an emphasis on small squad tactics and not run and gun or individual fighting. CTB seemed like such a great idea, combining qualities of Turn based and real time, and certainly FT did away with the roleplay of previous fallouts, but I tend to think the combat was more engrossing by being slightly real time, but still rooted in turns.
It looks nice but i'm still paranoid about them changing the gameplay.
I want a FALLOUT 3, I dont want just the name on a entirely new game.
BOS's combat is what fallout 3 should be. You should be able to get party members, for example.Probably not as much of a minority as those of us..well, those 3 of us (now 2, as the fans got to Freddie. However there should be a far better storyline and the game should be more of an RPG. That game was just fallout battles, really nothing else, which is why people disliked it.
It does, turn based is good gameplay for games where guns are used. It flows more with the RPG type gameplay as well where classes, and stats are important. A lot of special abilities in combat as well. I liked Swat, X-Com, Jagged Alliance, and Silent Storm. Fallout was the top tier of those type of games simply because it was also a GREAT RPG, i hope it stays that way.And I also agree...turn-based rules! Especially in this type of setting.
I would be happy though with a Baldurs Gate type gameplay where it has pauses you can set. It still wouldn't be the same. We need more turn based tactical games, that was an EXCELLENT genre.
Silent Storm is the most recent of that type of gameplay that was done well.
If they make this into some 1st person game i'll wonder why they bought the name. They may as well used their own IP. I, for one, wouldn't buy it if they did that. I might play it but i would make sure they wouldn't receive a dime from me.

A new low: Received a warning on this site for "insulting others". The "other" in question? Electronic Arts.
A nice trailer.
Too bad it wasn't a gameplay trailer.

At least the top down view is definitely out, so it seems it will be either first person or over the shoulder third person type of view.
Doesn't give any ideas about turn based combat however as plenty of games have the over the shoulder view (KOTOR I & II for starters).
I don't care if it is turn based or not, I honestly just hope it is a great game that works well with whatever mechanic they choose.
