Thread: How are ratings calculated?

    Default How are ratings calculated?

During the game it is possible to compare your faction with the others if you click on the graph - overall rating, wealth, population etc. I was particularly interested in how your military ranking is calculated. Is the quality of troops taken into consideration or is it solely based on volume ?

    Thanks.

the amount of troops is the graph for military ranking.
but correct me if i'm wrong but i tried it for soem time
and it is what i eyperienced.
but you can test it youreself - put one unit of peasants
or simple militia and one unit of same mumbered high end
heavy infantry and you will se the result.

(my test was 9 units of peasant archers against 9 units
    of armored swordsmen in vanilla)

    Thanks,

Good idea to test I will try it. I have my suspicions that it's based on military size. This is unfortunate as it's not very useful would be good if it was based on the combined upkeep cost of you military as this would then be a useful gauge should you decide to go to war and want to check the competition first.

Do you know if the AI take this into consideration before it attacks? Every time I disband weaker axillary units after a war to free up funds for a rebuild I get attacked. Maybe I should build 4/5 crap stacks just to keep this parameter high and earn respect?

to go to war and want to check the competition first.
that makes sence - but remeber - unit strenght is never a guaranty
for winning. even simple militia can beat very good other untis - even
if they are stronger. there are a lot of things that are more important
than the unit size. i talk of somethink like type, classification, strategy,
skill, experience, terrain, position and so on and so on. under the right
circumstance you can win even battels that look quite unbalanced.

Do you know if the AI take this into consideration before it attacks

AI can't consider and evaluate all of these mentioned factors. thats why
they often attack you if yout unit size is equal or smaller than theirs.
(i often get attacked when travelling around with a general and 5
heavy cavalry units while the attacking enemy has a half stack or more
of mixed milita (rebels, peasant, town guards or whatever). even if it
is totally clear, that the cavalry will win they attack.

but what i think is that AI considers experience and it does some
classifications. but maybe there someone different can tell us more.

Hmm. I see your point. The AI algorithm for estimating it's success rate is probably very complicated. It would be nice though (at least I think) if the military graph represented something more useful than volume only. I shall post a request and see if i get a response. Way to late for v 2.0 though!

    Thanks.

i think it's numbers and stats.

this is something that can't be done by mods. it is hardcoded or
better impoosible for AI to handle all these factors. it would be a
very strange algorithm that is impossible to include.

but maybe it is better at least for human players because they can
estimate the strenght of their garrison and they know about their
tactic what the AI can't. so i think you have to be stisfied with
a graph that shows the number and mybe the skill/experience.

by the way - the visualisation on a flag of a stack is working the
same way as the military graph.

I'm talking about 'on paper'. Would be nice to know just by looking how your military is doing on paper compared with the other factions. Numbers alone don't provide this information..

Sadly, the calculation formulas for the power graph are hard-coded, and afaik there is no possibility to influence those figures.
