    and lost the battle but suffered the french many casualties

    muslims reffered to france and others as franks, it was the germanic tribe of the franks where name of france comes from, no idea how much of east europe thought the same as the muslim nations

    Pretty possible. I've seen Spain Aragon landing somwhere near Exeter, camp there for a couple of turns, and than leave. Genoa might have done same thing in Scotland and they probably recruited some Scotish mercenaries while they were at it.
