Mining

After buliding level1 mines ive noticed that i dont get any income from them
this has happened to me with the romans and the britians anyone else have this problem?

Mines have 2 uses, 1 mine gold/silver for cash, 2 iron for smiths to improve weapons etc. The smith ones wont give any cash, and you cannot build a smith unless u got iron on ur land

Before I build any mines, Im already trading iron and marble for cash. When I build a smith,will it benefit me to buld mines+1 or is one basic mine all that is needed? What is the marble used for?
