Severe problem!! Desperately in need of help!!

Alright!!

To start off and wipe out all problems concerning my system, I have a High End Desktop. 1 GB of Ram, 2 x Intel Duo Core, Geforce 7900 GS etc etc so i figured could not be the problem at hand...

Also I lowered the settings to medium!

The game still crashes every 5 turns or 5-10 minutes. Either it freezes or more rarely the system reboots! Now I have already 10-15 times reinstalled the whole game...I've had that problem with patch 1.1 also so patch 1.2 is not the cause! It actually works fine.

Now I have attached my system log file to this thread, so anybody can take a look at it who thinks that he can help me...

does it only crash when you play SS? or also vanilla?

does it crash in the campaign map or in the fights?

It mostly crashes during the campaign game but I think only because you are more on the map than on the battlefield. I don't see a pattern there! It just crashes all the time!

I haven't played vanilla in a very long time but I think it would crash as well...couldn't say though!

It's reeeally disturbing!!

Does it crash when you are working in other apps/games?

Is your computer fan working properly? Is the vent clogged with dust or pet fur or something? If you are crashing every 10 - 15 minutes, it could be because of overheating. That happened to me a few years back.

nah, there is no way that is the problem. I'd say something is incompatible, something is conflicting.

To your comfort,at my computer all mods work,only SS2 crashes the same way as yours .But I think mainly at loading a battle .Better wait for SS3 comes soon .That SS so far is just stuffed with difficult for the comp things like the very complex sky mod etc and they conflict each other all the time .Otherwise SS must be the greatest mod...

I think Mike and Wolfgrin you both could be right! I've also supected overheating as a cause! But incompatibility is also just as likely...

Well it also happens with Stainless Steel 3.0!

Hi Student,

Sorry for my late response, but as you can guess I wasn't at home for a few days.
I've looked at your system.log and it doesn't show any "special" errors. All the messages are actually "normal" warnings from the original game and the others about "saxons" and "normans" don't matter for the game...

So, I'm not sur what could cause your crash.
And well, I also think Wolfgrin could be right that it probably has something to do with your system. Such irregular crashes probably indicate that your system gets overheated.
