Re: kings and capitals
From what I have gathered, you cannot change where people are crowned while in a campaign. They can only be crowned at the capital as it was originally. If you loose your capital you must retake it to be crowned. And as far as I know, the person must be king to be crowned.

You can change your capital...have family alive, but loose last settlement and game over.

Re: kings and capitals
Crowning events happens only in original default capital of your faction.
For added authority... take an enemy capital, sit there with your king for a few turns and you'll gain their crown.

Re: kings and capitals
found it.
if your unhappy with your capital you can find your crowning settlement in the export_descr_ancillaries file.
so if your playing as russia and u wanna have a capital u can crown at near the center of the map, such as crete. you change:
Trigger crown_russia_01
WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
Condition EndedInSettlement
and SettlementName Novgorod
and IsFactionLeader
and not CultureType middle_eastern
and not CultureType greek
and not I_WorldwideAncillaryExists crown_russia
AcquireAncillary crown_russia chance 100
to
Trigger crown_russia_01
WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
Condition EndedInSettlement
and SettlementName Iraklion
and IsFactionLeader
and not CultureType middle_eastern
and not CultureType greek
and not I_WorldwideAncillaryExists crown_russia
AcquireAncillary crown_russia chance 100
now when your king dies, your heir must travel to crete. however u first must send your refugees to crete and claim it first. this will add some role play lol. or u can just do that crown thing and find a way to change your starting province. your choice.

Re: kings and capitals
Well, i play as Byzantines and my King died in Zara (not the capital). So, i immediately send my new King from Bari to Constantinople (the capital) to get the crown. I left him there for about 3 turns but he didn't get it. Anyone can think why?
