I like the thought and the outcome of this mod alot. The only problem I have with it is that it seems incomplete. The factions dont seem to have the right flags and many of the units dont have any description at all. If you fix these things I think youll have a mod that will be hard to be beaten. I love the Irish faction.

I have to agree with the above poster here. I have been following your mod since the start, and I love it.

I understand that all modders, at least most of them, do this in their spare time and it is a lot of work. I just want to ask you a question, if one wants the original factions only do you have this as 2.3 or is all the other factions inside permanently now? I mean just 2.3 with new regions, original factions and no AI or other mods included.

The challenge I see with filling the map with more faction is that factions just sit there watching eachother and not do much fighting. This is ofcourse very much connected to the campaign AI aswell. I have tried many different AIs, and the factions very seldom make alliances of their own with other AI factions. They some times start wars, but never really finish them. Just attack a few cities and then the rest is just holding actions.

I guess I miss MTW a bit, it had great wars spanning the whole map. Germans on a rampage, and France struggling to hold out. RTW war frequency was greater too. And so forth. I guess MTW2 seems too peaceful to me. This is not an issue with your map per se, just and observation.

But since the beginning until now, great work. I always recommend your work to all my friends that play

    @ zowrath

you can download the 1.2 BigMap version and install it.
Install 2.3 BigMap version in temp. folder on your desktop.
Copy the 'base' folder from 2.3 to 1.2. That should work...

Backup your original base folder first

Maybe I will upload it at FileFront also , I dont know of any more free file hosts..

    @Zowrath
    Thanks for the comments..
The campaign AI is a concern I have also , I only use the Darth AI because it comes with the other fixes, when the new 1.2 patch is released I think a lot of Darths fixes might be no longer needed ( I may be wrong)
Hopfully many aspects of the campaign AI will also be fixed as well with 1.2.
AS for a version without the AI , it might be better to wait and see what 1.2 does.
I think the factions can be easily removed buy removing the entrys from the desc_strat..

It must be the Rapid Share link ,, I think they have talked up their capabilities
I bet I must buy an account to get good downloads
Its really easy to upload the files though..
I will upload it to FileFront as well

I downloaded it, but I cannot figure out how to install it...
I installed the .exe to my desktop, but I got confused when i read the readme thing.
I am new to mods on Medieval II (this is the first I have tired to install and it looks very good) and not to mods in general and I am just a little confused...

i was having a little trouble cuz i was installing it like an older regionsprov mod... I fugured it out tho. Hey sb2ean I just wanted to point out that the shields for the new factions all show the french symbol. do you know how i could fix that? and i was wondering did you also fix the fact that some regions with water at the borders didn't have any ports?
    thanks

This is a great mod! But I found a little mistake: Turku is in wrong place, IRL it's in the place where Turku's port is in game.

    Thanks for the comments
    Here is how to install
Just run the installer as normal (point it to the Medieval II Total War folder)
once installed start the MTW2 set up your graphics settings how you like
    quit back to desktop ,
Now just double click the ConfigFixer shortcut on your desktop
Now you can start the game as normal.

I havnt done the battle banners yet so you must have ShowBanners = 0
in the medieval2.preference.cfg , this is why you have to run the ConfigFixer
unless you like having white banners that is : )
As for new factions having the French/Timurids banners , I know its bit of a downer but I dont think its possible to change those yet , I was thinking of editing the Saxons symbol into a sort of generic symbol for the new factions but that is no different really is it .
All the ports are done now yes , I even added the one at Asswan and Caspian Sea.

Turku hasnt been changed its where CA placed unless spuius has moved it
when he made the BigMap . It wont be much trouble to move it though.

about banners, I found this link in the work shop:
    http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/forum/viewtopic/id/7301

    Location: \data\banners\textures
    Files:
    faction_banner_byzantium.texture
    faction_banner_byzantium_trans.texture
    royal_banner_byzantium.texture
    File extension: .texture
Usage in game: Symbols of the Flags & Panels that keep the soldiers in Battle Map.

There are also explanations about shields, flags etc. Hope it's an help.

Cool, I got it working and wow is it great! It adds alot more the game is exactly what I though TCA could have done to improve the game, nice work.
Though I have one problem, whenever I command a battle, all my troops voices echo...is there a fix for that?

Did you use the 'ConfigFixer shortcut mentioned in #14?
Also look in the Audio menu option and try another audio option. I also heard the echo during battles, but I changed the audio from Creative Labs to my computers default driver/option. Now there's no echo.

Oh I see. My default for my original MT2 wasn't like that, so I figured it was the mod. Silly me, thanks.
