Do you hate hypaspistai? Did you ever wonder why the semnone sachaz aren't uber, or why sword cav have the same charge stat as spear cav? Me too, so I did something about it.
That something is the MightyMiniMod v2.0 for ExRM v3.0+. This is how I play RTR-PE, and I enjoy it a great deal.
Instructions:
1) Download http://rapidshare.com/files/19522057/MMM_v2.0.rar
2) Replace the export_descr_units.txt file in your ExRM directory with this one
3) Rock on
Changelog (credits are included in the minimod itself):
Romans:
Increased First Cohort Defense Skill by 2, attack by 1, cost by 100, and upkeep by 30 (idea by Pre)
Gave Triarii shield wall
Gave all Roman legionnaires shield wall instead of testudo (they used both, but relied more heavily on the shield wall)
rtr german eliteswords:
Stole Marcus Camillus's idea and increased their HP to 2
Also increased their cost by 200 and upkeep by 100. I don't like 2hp units.
As per Lord Cunami's suggestion, took away their javelins. The only thing a berserker will do with a javelin is beat you to death with it. Throwing is for nancy-boys who don't want to get their hands dirty.
hoplite militia:
Took away shield wall
Consequently, took away their short_pike
Reduced their cost by 50 and upkeep by 20
aor thrace heavy cavalry:
Inc. spear attack by 2
5 just seemed awfully low for any spear cav, esp. heavy cav.
Hypaspistai (all):
Reduced to 1hp
Doubled unit size
Increased unit price to that of Egyptian Hypaspistai, or 1575 cost and 656 upkeep
Try making a full army of these guys _now_, AI! Pah! I flatulate in your general direction!
Egyptian Hypaspistai:
Increased cost by 300 and upkeep by 100, to account for the generally more expensive nature of Egyptian units relative to the other Successor States
greek hoplite elite:
Reduced to 1hp
Doubled unit size
increased cost by 200 and upkeep by 100
illyrian hoplite heavy:
Reduced to 1hp
Doubled unit size
inc. cost by 200 and upkeep by 50
athenian hoplite:
Inc. unit size to 60
Increased cost by ~33%. Limited AoR should keep them from overrunning everyone.
Dec. armour factor by 1, inc. recr. time by 1
east heavy infantry:
left as is, to make the Armenians more unique
east cappodocian inf:
Inc. unit size to 60
Increased cost by ~25%. Time requirement will make up if they're too cheap.
poeni infantry:
Inc. unit size to 60
Inc. upkeep by 200, but left cost at 519. I'm curious to see if this will cause the computer (and humans) to use them only in emergencies when a rapid levy of troops is needed, as their descriptions says they should be used.
carthaginian sacred band infantry:
Reduced to 1hp
Doubled unit size
Increased cost by 100
All 80-man agema-type units:
Inc. unit size to 60
Inc. cost and upkeep by 50%
Chrysaspides:
Increased cost by 200 and upkeep by 70
Epirote Pikemen:
Gave them identical stats to the Macedonian pez., since identical cost
Naked fanatics:
Defense skill decreased by 2 (they're naked fanatics, what do you want?)
macedonian prodromoi:
Cut attack bonus by 2
Increased charge bonus by 5

Decreased charge bonus by 8

Swapped costs with normal Sp. Cav.
spanish cavalry:
Decreased charge bonus by 8
Increased attack bonus by 2
Swapped costs with AoR Sp. Cav.
It seemed odd that AoR Sp. Cav. would be better _and_ cheaper than the native cav, so I reversed it.
merc arab cavalry:
Decreased charge bonus by 8
Increased attack bonus by 2
merc bedouin:
Decreased charge bonus by 8
Increased attack bonus by 2

_Shieldless Heavy Cav. Section_
E. Capp. Cav.
Increased attack by 2
They're a regional unit, so they should be made cool. Also wanted to give them some recompense for lacking a shield.
Thessalians
+1 attack
Wanted to give them some recompense for lacking a shield.
aor sarmatia heavy cavalry (and Roman version), sarmatian noble & heavy cav
+1 attack
They have swords and don't use a shield.
