Whenever I try to fight a battle, the game CTDs, and says "Windows Encountered an unspecified error and will now exit."
Until a few weeks ago, the game worked perfectly, then I unpacked the files.

After this I uninstalled (completely wiping the SEGA file out of program files so nothing was left) and reinstalled Medieval II vanilla (where the files were not unpacked) and tried to run a battle, only for it to CTD.

I thought this might be because of a dodgy disk (it's extremelly scratched etc from eighteen months of heavy use) so tried installing Kingdoms, the disk of which is in much better condition. The same result occured. Any thoughts? My game is unmodded, and does not seem to be unpacked. Help!

I've tried several, none seem to have worked, on both Grand and Kingdoms campaigns and custom battles. The battle loads all right, and I get about a seconds glimpse at my army before the game CTDs.

Since you unpacked everything did you delete the two geography files in the data folder?

Did you read the whole thread or just start yelling? The directions are in here. Do your homework since you want to post in a half a dozen other threads also. Read the threads you posted in and your answer is there too.

My game is very laggy. Is there a way I can make this stop? I have plenty of room on my PC. I am used to playing Rome: Total War and that worked fine with no problems. (And yes I uninstalled Rome) So is there something I could download to make this work? Or maybe mess with the options?

Maybe not. 3d graphics in M2TW use more resources than RTW as they are higher quality. Turn all your settings to low and see if that helps. If it does, increase them one at a time until it stars lagging again. Since you didnt add your computer specs, and you want to play on high settings, you may have to invest in a newer graphics card or even a new machine.

    hi!
I've a serious problem with Kingdoms expansion.

I've bought MTW long time ago in a shop. Now I've bought (in the same shop) Kingdoms expansion which is compatible with my MTW.
First problem occured when I wanted to start installing the game - problem message appeared (screen2). So I opened the E: (DVD RW), and started setup manually. Installation of patches and all four campaigns was OK. Then I wanted to start the game, the same message appeared (screen2). I tried to open it in many possible and even impossible ways, but I wasn't succesfull.

I've TLR mod for M2TW only, there shouldn't be any problems with it I think.. I've Vista. Compatibility should be ok if it was OK before.. what should I do?

I have windows vista and when I try to make a few minor mod's to the game I am unable to save the file. It says that the path cannot be found. Any help is appreciated.

Ok, I figured it out, I had to save the descr_strat_new file to the desktop and then paste it into folder and rename it (minus the new) and rename the vanilla strat file. Not sure why vista wouldn't let me just save the darn thing to begin with, but oh well problem solved.
