Lev Yashin gets my vote too. But the best current keeper is without a doubt Petr Cech
@ Holger Danske: I suppose that you would say Peter Schmeichel!

Cheers for a good laugh mate. Obviously being a Chelsea fan I'm blinded by bias, but at the same time, I can spot quality when I see it. Just having a purple patch eh? A purple patch at National level and domestic level huh? Is that why he went 1,025 minutes unbeaten in the premiership in 04-05 with 25 clean sheets!! Not consistent like at Sparta Prague where he went for 928 minutes withou conceding, all that with a much shakier defence. Then we're talking about national level, where he has not conceded a goal in 855 COMPETITIVE minutes. Three pretty damn solid records if you ask me, that span back over the course of 3 years. So I can expect that this apparent "good run" lasts the length of his career and is actually a reflection of his astounding ability.
Cech is bloody brilliant. Peter Schmeichel was good, too. Who was that (Argentinian?) guy who saved with the front flip?
Rene Higuita was the Colombian chap who did the scorpion kick at Wembley. Peter Schmeichel was the last great goalkeeper I've seen.
Peter Schmeichel
As for current goalkeepers with a lot of potential... Ben Foster (Manchester United/Watford), Carlos Idriss Kameni (Espanyol), Sivlio Proto (Anderlecht), Igor Akinfeev (CSKA Moscow).
Petr Cech is an excellent goalkeeper and definitely one of the world's best at the moment, although he is rather lucky in that he has a pretty solid defense in front of him with players like John Terry, Ashley Cole and Claude Makelele.
current best is Chech, followed up closly buy Akinfeev and Ustari (actually watch the boy he is immense - football argentina is on late on Channel 5 sometimes)

How dare you for get the legend that is Peter Shilton and the goalkeeping god that is Gordon Banks. Shame on you!
What the hell people? You talk about the greatest goalies of all time and not even one mention of Vladislav Tretiak?!
You should be ashamed of yourselves......
