What do you need to re-skin?

DBH, Zarax and friends - What programs do you need to re-skin units? I've been interested in giving it a shot for a while now but don't know what I need to get started...any help would be appreciated.

You can do it with Photoshop and the DDS plugin, or you can use the GiMP and something like DTXBmp.

Thanks for your reply - I believe I have photoshop on my comp., the others I am not too sure about. Where can I get the DDS plugin?
Heh, the GiMP is just a funny name...

I recommend the ATI Compressonator tool, it's very good for viewing TGA files. You should also get TGA / DDS thumbnail plugins from ATI or nVidia.

In compressonator, all you have to do with your fresh-from-photoshop tga's is click the compress button, select DXT5, compress and then file -> save compressed

Works like a charm, very fast too.
