Reinstallment of MTWI Music

Hello TWC, I have been an infrequent visitor to these forums and this site since the days of the original MTW. I was more a regular at the .com but left during the great exodus pre-RTW with a lot of the other regulars whom I no longer see there now that I have returned to the TW community. I have seen some familiar faces out here though...

Anyway, I have my own reasons for not liking the MTWII music and preferring the Medieval's original music, and I'm sure most modder aren't interested in the why's so much as the what's, so my question is: does anybody currently have the files with ALL of the original files replacing the new MTWII music? I've found the method used to change the files myself and attempted to do so, but I cannot convert the music files from .wav, which is how I found them in my original MTW files, to mp3, which is required for a successful conversion of music. I have unpacked the music file and all the other stuff I could do, but could not go any further without my files in the mp3 format.

If anybody has already done this mod I would very much appreciate getting it, or if someone wishes to do their charitable deed for the month, I'm sure whatever deity you worship would appreciate it and I certainly would to. The total mod should only take about 20 minutes to do, most of it is waiting for the unpacking of the music file into a new file which one can work with....

Heh funny...I was going to this forum to post this kind of thread...well here it is

. I would really like to have the arabic music from the original MTW. They were so
awesome compared to todays MTW 2 arabic music (the same music when you start to move your troops). Sorry for this post...it didn't help or anything.

I enjoyed all the music from MTW infinetely better. THis new stuff has it's place and is quite nice, but the arabic music from the older game really immersed me in the "desert" cultures and the European music felt much more dramatic and epic than does this cinematic style music while gets to by annoying to a degree.

Well I can point out that the music to MTW1 is copyrighted so you are not allowed to host it or post links to it on TWC.

hmmm, that offers a problem then I suppose. Do you know of any way I can convert the music from .wav to .mp3 files without a converter, or better yet where I can get a free or if anything a cheap and safe converter to convert my music to. If I can simply do that I can do the modding myself.

I have some of the original TW music, as they used it for the fourth age total war. Therefore it isn't copyrighted I guess,

you don't need to convert wav tracks to mp3...that is unneccessary.

I used all wav tracks and not mp3s for some of my modded music.

All you need to do to use a wav track is NOT put anything after it.

Thus if the track is called "doomsday", then for a mp3 format track you use "doomsday.mp3".

For a wav, just put "doomsday" and NOT doomsday.wav"

Is it really that easy? I have tons of plainsong for the campaign map, and classical for the battles that I've been dying to use.

yes it is literally that easy.

It was just a misconception that - that idea that wav players needed to be converted got started.

They don't need to be converted.

Now, I will demonstrate that I am not a proper modder. Where are the music files? I've just spent the last ten minutes looking for them.

all of these need to go into your main mtw2 data folder, and keep them there while repacking music.
