What's the deal with France in England though? I thought the AI was programmed (both in the base game and the mod) to have a large British navy protecting their shores.

My HOI3 French game on the 21st of January, 1949.



And then I got carried away and sorta reshuffled some things around.



I'll try my best to summarize things for everyone:

-This was a GCM game. I left the allies and extended the Maginot Line to the Belgian border. The Germans ended up never invading me because of that.

-I was left alone until 1943, when Japan declared a limited war on me. I declared war on Germany.

-Germany was very close to overrunning the isles ( Italy surprisingly captured Gibraltar before I entered, thus I was unable to assist). The United States saved the British by the skin of their teeth and pushed the Germans out completely by July 1943.

-At literally the same time I warred Germany, the Soviet Union warred Germany.

-The Italians utterly smashed the United Kingdom in North Africa. When I entered, I quickly seized Libya but was not able to liberate Egypt.

-Japan won the second Sino-Japanese war a few years prior. They invaded the Soviet Union and Australia.

-After bitter fighting, Germany finally surrendered in April 1944. Italy followed suit in June 1944. The other European Axis were defeated as well, by the Soviets.

-The hellish campaign to liberate the Dutch East Indies begins in earnest by 1945.

-Nationalist Spain enters the fray—on the axis side sometime in 1945. They make some progress but stop dead short of Bordeaux. The Belgian army group strategically relocates South to deal with this surprise threat. The Spaniards could not cope with a two-front war and folded in few months time.

-Much of the Dutch East Indies has been liberated by November 1946. After utmost brutal fighting in the Java campaign, the last Imperial army [in the Pacific] surrenders. Fighting spills into Thailand as allied commanders learn of the country's dictator negotiating with the Japanese to wage a guerrilla war from within their borders.

-Nationalist China joins the Allies and thrusts all the way to the Manchurian border unopposed. The offense grinds to a stuttering halt as they divert resources to fight Yuunan and Xibi San Ma. The Russo-Japanese front has not budged at all the past three years.

-Invasion of Korea peninsula in April 1948. By June it is fully overrun. The Manchurian puppet regime fell later and the last Japanese divisions in China surrendered.

-I invaded the Southern Japan islands in December 1948 but the IJN stubbornly held the invasion force at bay. The first ever nuclear bomb is dropped on New Year's Day 1949 on Osaka, by the French. Japan surrenders just a few days later after landings on the main Japanese island. WW2 officially ends.

738 AD (mod: 399 AD)

Started as the ERE in 399 AD, conquered a bunch of regions from Parthia and invaded the Visigoths (who were in Illyria at the time). Annexed them which forced them to migrate en masse to Gaul. Meanwhile the WRE had given most of Hispania to the Vandals (who became Roman vassals as a result). They did the same to the Visigoths by giving them southern Gaul. The Suebi invaded Hispania, forcing the Vandals to migrate to Africa where they founded some kingdom which came under constant attacks by native north African kingdoms that had rebelled. Some Roman governor rebelled in Hispania forming the Imperium of Hispaniaa, which was then destroyed by the Suebi, who formed the kingdom of Galicia. Franks invaded northern Gaul and eventually formed the kingdom of Francia. The Romans in Britain rebelled, forming the Imperium of Britannia which was soon reduced to one province. Multiple Imperia started popping up (Gallia, Hispania, Britannia, Africa), all very weak with very short life spans (we're talking months here). I made the WRE (which was constantly occupied by Visigoths, Suebi, Vandals, Huns) my vassal, but then they turned against me when I was attacked by Huns or something. I signed a white peace treaty and let them be. Soon the Visigoths invaded and gained half of Italy. Not for long though as the Alemanni (who had snatched central Gaul from the Romans some decades ago) attacked them and left them very weak with a few land losses here and there. The Visigoths then formed the Kingdom of Tolosa which became a vassal of Galicia after they declared war and wiped the floor with them. The WRE broke into small city states with Ravenna being the most powerful one. Ravenna proceeded to conquer all other city states to form the Kingdom of Italy. My last act as the emperor of the ERE was to make Greek the official language of administration, turning my state into Rhomania.
I then switched to Tolosa. I declared a war against Galicia and managed to break free. Not only that but I allied myself with Italy and waged war against the Alemanni, reducing them to a few provinces. My wars against Francia were less successful but I think I managed to make them give up some regions in Britain (Britain had been invaded by the Jutes -green guys in the south- as well as Picts and Franks-the latter still hold Cornwall. The Saxons have two kingdoms there, Essex and Wessex, which are very weak. Denmark is ruled by the Angles, and the Danes only rule over the islands in the East). The Caliphate rose at the worst possible time for the Byzies, just when they had a civil war. They took most of Arabia in two years I think. The state of Dakya broke off from the empire (their religion is Dacian!) and so did a few other provinces nearby. Graecia emerged too and started a war to claim the entire empire for themselves-they succeeded. Just when the war was over the newly formed Umayyads declared war, took Egypt, north Africa and areas Asia Minor. The states of Lydia and Kilikia broke off after the war forming two Greek kingdoms that are now allies.
The Slavs arrived soon after that, establishing some states in the East and Serbia and Croatia in the Balkans, after conquering parts of Lombardia and Lesser Guthenia. Southern Greece became extremely fragmented during that time, the result was a Rhomania reduced to Thrace and north west Asia Minor. They managed to recover from that quickly, and vassalised many small states in the North, including Trakya and Bulgaria.
As for religion, the schism happened sometime during the early 600s, Rhomania became Miaphysite, Orthodoxy survives in Guthenia, Lombardia (I think) and Lydia and Kilikia. Not sure what Rhodos and Crete have as they became independent very recently. The free Persian state is Manichaeist and Ahura Mazda is only worshiped in Khorasan.

So here it is my brazilian empire, after 1890 or so my industry started kicking and by 1935 all my regions were with lvl 6 railroad (thank you capitalists!) and with 8 factories in most of them. Coudnt colonize africa quickly since the Ottomans blocked me off and my ports coudnt reach near the portuguese colonies, so them and the french took central africa. We got fascist Britain and Italy (the fascist won in britain after the 3rd Great War which ended with USA, Brazil and NGF victory over UK, Austria and Russia) communist Spain and Socialist Germany.



Austria and Russia coudnt get back on their feets after two consecutive great war defeats, the 3rd great war (above) and the 4th Great war (USA, Brazil and Germany X France, Austria and Russia, the only one i actually fought and was the guy who beated France) Btw the 1st Great War was UK, NGF x France, Austria, Russia and Brazil, with UK and NGF defeat and the 2nd Great War was USA, Brazil, NGF, Austria, Spain, Netherlands x France, with obvious french defeat.






UK was quite weak compared to my games on AHD, this time they lost South West England twice for the French (although they captured it back both times after France had lost those great wars) and they lost Manchester permanently for the US. One thing which was funny was that by 1910 Canada became great power, stopped being defended by the UK and the US invaded it the next week, and Germany and me tagged along ( the Brazil, USA, Germany alliance were the main powers from 1900 to 1936) against France x Canada, which the french lost again and the US captured Quebec.

I was pratically the reason Italy became a great power, i helped them capture the Two Sicilies, and then fought a war with both of us against France, Austria and Russia, which i had to send all my soldiers to Italy and defeated a 250k Russian army in Venice with 150k soldiers (thanks to Gas, tanks and airplanes, which the russians didnt had).

At the end of the game, 1934, a crisis started on Panama and the US backed Colombia and France backed Panama, as you can see the US is quite powerfull, but i backed France in a attempt to have this final act in the game wih a 5th Great War with Brazil, France, Italy x USA, Germany (it was allied with both me and the US but i'd bet it would tag along the US) BUT France, the Crisis leader, went french mode and decided to white peace a month later (no offence to the french ) i was so pissed off...

My score wasnt that great, even though i didnt lose one war, won all of them (i guess i know how to choose the right alliance lol, since i was back and forth between the GPs), i had absolutely no navy, only 48 steam transports, so i thought it was because of that that my military score was low compared to the other great powers, but then i checked the list and only the US actually had ships, and it was 98, the rest of the GP were all really below me, even UK... And i was the first ones to get the military tecnologies such as airplane and tank, and i ended with all military tecnologies but 2 (Great War experience and Army NCO Training).

I got sphered Argentina, Chile, Sweden, Sokoto and Portugal, damn USA got Colombia really quickly and coudnt do anything...

Now i await patiently for the next patch for the dominion release fix, which is the only thing that is bothering me. Thinking of playing either UK, Sardinia Piedmont or Prussia..

This is a converted game from EU3 to V2 vanilla, where I was playing Austria. Now I'm playing the South German federation. After having conquered most of Europe and humiliated France, Spain, Portugal and England, I've turned my sights to colonial conquests. In EU3 I inherited parts of Western Australia from Prussia and so I've decided to partly focus there, despite having to share it with my former enemies. Also, during a profitable war with the Ottomans, I was able to gain Suez/Palestine and open the canal. I've secured the other end of the Red Sea by taking Yemen as my satellite. I have no great interest in Africa beyond a few colonies I received when I formed Germany, but I think what I need to do now is gain a foothold in India, which is still largely untouched in 1865.

There is a mod I remember that had very similar map. It was for EU:Rome.

Hastings, that's a nice game. I wonder if that is France and Russia in America or it is probably something else...
