Their territory lies in a place that was not my objective, so I thought I'd let them live. Their Sultan has been living in my dungeon from past 30 years anyway.

By the way, you might have also noticed the Ayyubids. I had them vassalized, then converted to Christianity, and then made them independent when I invaded Arabia. So now they are back to Muslim again.

To simulate trench warfare, they will need to tone down the offensive technology and raise the defensive. That was one of the reasons that WW1 was not much mobile on the western front. All sides were excellent in defensive technology, but none could do powerful offensives against those techs. Only way was to keep feeding more and more men in the frontline, until enemy is weary and tired and out of resources.

So first time playing Victoria 2 AHD. Started with Brazil, my main enemy was the dutch, after 4 dutch brazilian wars i finally won. The first war was just they trying to conquer one of my states (Pará), but they didnt send any army, just blocked my ports, so i captured the dutch Guyana and Britain joined as my ally, at that point the dutch accepted peace. The second war happenend because of my quick expansions in Venezuela, Paraguay and Bolivia. My infamy was high and the dutch tried to hold me back. I won that war and added the war goal to conquest the dutch guyana.

The third and fourth wars were on the dutch african colonies, the fourth was the hardest since it was Netherlands and the Ottoman empire against me, but i managed to hold their inital attack and invaded the dutch africa and libya. Now i have all of the dutch colonies in africa!

The race to africa was quite big, i started colonizing, and soon after the dutch and Spain followed, now spain has half of africa. Thats my next target.

I became a Great power after conquering Venezuela, Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay. Now i have also conquered Peru, Ecuador, Cuba, Haiti and Hawaii (was independent). The reason i didnt conquered Colombia was because it is under the sphere of the US.

Countries under my sphere: Argentina, Chile, Ethiopia, Egypt ( i built the Suez channel), Morocco, Sokoto, Afghanistan.

There's a mod for it that makes both general and vassal borders more bearable to look at. It's nice, you should get it.
