Well, I like expensive stuff, it mines my factories won't be over saturating the market.
Ever had an economy crash?

Mine was when China westernized. In fact it happens everytime China manages to westernize. They flood the market with massive number of all kind of goods, and prices drop to the ground and budget goes red.
I turned off subsides, and in return all my factories got shut down. Then came the massive rebellions of unemployed workers.
The prices were so low that I could construct all the factories at dirt cheap importing cost. Economy got back up only when Chinese reactionaries rebelled and made China back into an uncivilized nation.

You were probably fighting Irregulars then.
In one of my games, they had westernized and I switched to play them for a while. They had 702 recruitable brigades, which is more soldiers than I have ever seen in any Paradox game. And God knows how much of reserve they had.

Mobilizing any island nation is tedious.
In what are most of the action happened? I suppose in eastern India, Indochina and other close-by zones.

I declared war on UK when playing China. Whenever France is not there to stop them, I have frequent visits from 90 brigade armies on the coast, and another from India.
They get mowed down by attrition, so I simply send my 60 Ironclads and Monitors to prevent them from escaping.

Back in my game I had no option to take Thrace until it was their last province, so they've changed some things.
I basically piggybacked on an early Ottoman-Russian war and got most of Greece back very early on. From then on the Ottomans actually lost a few territories to the Russians and Eygptians and never expanded. I just didn't manage to do it until around 1900 or so because of all the infamy I had to take on (pre AHD, so no manufacturing CBs) destroying the Ottomans entirely.Did you ran into any problems, like Ottomans conquering large territories in Middle east, and you having to conquer them as well?
Eventually in the 1920s though I was powerful enough to just breach the limit. Then proceeded to tear Russia, Austria and Italy apart.

Lol, pre-AHD game was very tedious. How did ye tear Russia?

What the hell is going on here? The brown thing that ate Denmark is Algiers by the way...

This is my glorious Empire as of my last play through. Japan sucks to start but once you unite and get the colonial empire going it gets fun pretty quick. I'm a bit nervous about going head to head with the Ming, even if I do have guns. And Austria and India are encroaching pretty quickly, this could get rough. Oh, and Austria has the highest tech of any large power. This will be fun.

Played it. My armies ran out of supply halfway, with Russian army counterattacking using a mass of peasants. By the time I could build roads, I was reduced back to Polish borders.
Air supply works in these cases, though, no matter how much cash it drinks.
And WHAT THE are Austria, Venice and Algiers doing?!

I just beat the Ming in a land war. I took the one province I was 'core mission'ed on and took tons of money. Time for a new campaign?

I still wish to know what went wrong with Austria, Venice and Algeria.
I had somewhat similar mission where I was told to defeat England as France. And England had far flung colonies in every single corner of the map. To defeat the English, I would have to first defeat their huge navy and then occupy their mainland, and then their colonies. My pathetic navy was still composed of galleys and carracks (I had set naval tech investment to 0) and could not reach the colonies without getting sunk by pirates or being lost.
I ragequitted that game.

Your guess is as good as mine. I'm playing as Japan, that was the first thing I saw when I could view Europe. Nizhny Novgorod is weird as all hell, too. But tbh I'm not so interested in eating the Ming, although that does seem to be my next logical course of action and the balance of power is now in my favor...
