Did they change that decision or change something in AHD, or did you mod it? I remember when I did it in vanilla I had to wipe the Ottomans out entirely to take their capital.

There is a decision named 'Megali Idea' which gives you cores over Izmir and Bursa (I hate those names, real names are Smyrna and Prusa/Nikaea). It also gives you cores over Thrace.

So what I did was to take Smyrna and Prusa regions in one war with help from Russia. Until this point, taking Thrace is not possible. I also made them release all of their vassals. Then I declared another war for Thrace, and this time I won by myself. The Ottoman capital automatically moved to Ankara.

Then I simply took the Konya region (again, I hate Turkish names based on Greek names, it is actually Iconium region). Then came the grand decision of 'Kings of the Kings' and I clicked on it. Byzantium formed, and Ottomans still live.

It moved only when I took Thrace. In other words, I had 'forced' them to do this, because they had no capital.

And I know how tedious and annoying it was, mate. Did you ran into any problems, like Ottomans conquering large territories in Middle east, and you having to conquer them as well?

During one of my early games without AHD, Ottomans conquered everything down to South Africa. I had to conquer whole Africa just to kill them. And that was not funny...

So I have reached 1870s, and the scramble for Africa has began:



France is winning the race, though. Britain is (strangely) not at all interested in any African province. In Europe, France took Savoy when I sided in the 1st Franco Prussian war, in which Prussia lost and so did I. After some more industrializing I attacked Austria for reclaiming more of my cores, and I liberated Hungary in the process. All this time, the Prussians were rebuilding their armies. Portugal is also colonizing rapidly.

Japan modernized and went to war with Russia. At this point, they decided to jump on me for I attacked Ottomans to get Albania, another historical territory of Italian Empire. Japan thankfully kept them busy when the newly rebuilt Prussian armies and my navy closed them in. At last they surrendered Albania to me, even though Ottomans were winning. Defeating the war leader is the top priority.

Then I attacked Oman for the little province in Somaliland. As soon as 1870 came up, I researched Machine Guns and colonized Libyan desert, and then rest of Somaliland. Then I attacked Ethiopia and Egypt for getting the historically accurate Italian colonial territories. Egypt is totally crushed now, losing Levant to the Ottomans and southern lands in Africa to me. I am thinking of sphering them to build Suez Canal, because it was tedious to ship armies all the way round of Africa.

Hitting Austrians gave me so much prestige that I made Britain #2 and took the position of #1 in terms of prestige. Then I humiliated and disarmed Egypt, so again I got a lot of prestige. The only thing I wonder is, what is Zanzibar and how did it get there. Only a few turns ago it was owned by Oman.

I have also disbanded all of my army and navy, because it was hopelessly outdated and I have organize the armies again in 'Divisions' of 10 units each.

It became a Great War. I am still building my divisions currently (bottom left, at the French-Italian border). Most of the Italian men have been put to the front, but I still need a second line.

Since I didn't have any divisions to fight, I chickened out of the war early. At that time, Germans were losing badly. Now that they are winning, is there a way to join back?

Say thanks to America for that, they took half of Belgium for siding with France in this Great War.

And Netherlands has some colonies which Prussia has annexed, but still some of them remain. There was one more war, in which I fought with my divisions. In that war, Prussia decided to humiliate them instead of taking their colonies.

Just wait till the next war, and you shall see it 'liberated'.

Ah, the joys of early westernization (thanks Castille!). I had a rough start as Malacca, but by making the right alliances and invading on opportune moments, I eventually managed to carve my way into mainland SEA. Now I have been slowly taking my revenge on Ming for the past 100 years, as well as taking over India.

The Ottomans have taken over almost all of the GH and Timur (except for Khorasan) lands.

By having a neighbour that's 20 (?) or so techs ahead, having atleast an 6 Administration ruler (I had 7 6+ Admin rulers in a row, from 1399 till 1581) and high Centralization and Innovation sliders.

Ah, my rulers are very poor in stats. 2 in administration, 3 in military. And this continued till 1680s.

Because I disbanded all of my army and rebuilt it from scratch and organized them into divisions of 13 brigades each. When I took the pic, my divisions were till under construction.

I have done this 'army reform' 7 times by now.

I never do that, at most I will disband all the inf for guards then cav for planes etc..

I thought Guards were expensive, especially since they need luxury clothes which is very costly when importing.

I am very close to airplanes, but it is not being discovered. It has -2% chance of discovery, while Daimler's Auto and Edison's bulb have 0% chance of discovery. All other researches are complete, yet it takes so long.
