From scratch, I just finished creating one.

Yes, and it works fine. Units are still placeholder, I'll work on them tomorrow. The whole thing took 3 hours to do. I have tested both in battles and campaign.

I can readily see both the gameplay and historical arguments against their inclusion, but at the same time I could not in good conscience support any measure which would deprive the mod of cute Scandinavian girls. Sorry.

I don't really think so. Vikings really didn't give off princesses, they were more or less kept inside royalty... nothing diplomatic like that.

To extend that issue, however, are royal marriages really an accurate feature at all in this time period? I always thought of it as a feudal idea, for a world in which primogeniture is established and dynasties are all-important, perhaps I'm mistaken.

It would be nice to have them in some form though, they're an interesting feature. Anyone have any insights into how relevant they would be in other cultures. I think there are a few examples from Britain and Ireland (The various Norse dominions like Orkney and Dublin seem to have married with the locals, and also sometimes with the noble families of their neighbours, for example) But perhaps not that many, I'm not certain.

I don't know enough about this era to make a decision on something this detailed, but I do like the gameplay of Princesses, and would be stoked it a historical reason for their inclusion could be found...

Vikings and women wasn't a big problem back then... Nothing too formal... A man had a woman to make a lineage..

MT2W kinda blew that out of proportion... Princesses sparsly did anything diplomatic.

Instead of Princesses make different Sex Slaves in the Retinue of great Generals after a Raid. They could increase health, loyalty and the possibility of children

dont know about vikings but pagans used princeses or at least merried them but one side had to convert you should put that in the meerige terms
