I dont think so, its brilliant. Get it! I installed it and played it for the first time in years today, im still impressed. The atmosphere and the era are awsome. You see the original nija movies, and you get battles that are actually a challenge.

My advide is buy it, its probaly only £5 at most (here in Britain), probs cheaper.

its a great but outdated game, if you dont mind the bad graphics then go ahead. (the graphics are good for the assassination videos though, gameplay not so much)

I'm having a crack at my old copy right now. I have to say that the atmosphere and setting is probably the major pull for anyone who has already played the other games in the series.

The music and general tone of the game is very appealling, and makes an interesting change from the Eurocentric settings of installments in the series. Being able to set the language to Japanese also gives me a bit of practice for my language studies .

To be honest, if you prefer more traditional settings then there's no reason to buy this over the original Medieval - Medieval is quite simply a superior game which retains almost all the features of Shogun plus more (though I miss my Geisha assassinations ). That said, if you liked Rome's fast-paced battles then you get a very similar battlefield experience with Shogun (some people find Medieval's longer battles rather boring).

So, if you have a bit of spare change lying around then Shogun+Mongol invasion should be dirt-cheap by now, but consider whether the money could be spent on some other old classic you've never played .

Hmmm I was just wondering if I should give it another whack...I own the original and the expansion...the problem would be handling the simplicity as compared to RTW of M2TW

I have to say this game is probably #1 for atmosphere that I've ever played, especially the campaign map, I wish I still had my old copy lol..

The Shogun AI is better than M2.

Shogun Ai is alot better than MTW2 , infact it is only bettered by MTW1.

It's still a great game.
