Thread: Variable "Distance to Capitol" Penalty?

  1. #1

Default Variable "Distance to Capitol" Penalty?

Is it possible to have a distance to capitol penalty that varies with time and/or other factors? For example:

    1) Penalty should be higher early on as travel is more difficult, and communications less reliable- ie Jerusalem is harder to hold in 1100 than in 1400.

    2) Penalty should decrease if travel can be conducted through own or allied lands. For example, Spain holding Cairo should be difficult, unless they also own all of the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa, resulting in a completly Spanish-owned travel route from Capitol to Cairo. Also could work for allied lands.

Chances are this sort of thing is too difficult to mod in, as it requires a changing variable parameter. Maybe something for Lusted to mention to CA for future games/expansions?

Great idea, but you're right. It's probably out of reach of modders right now.

Cannot be modded in. The distance to captial penalty is a value set in one file that stays the same for a campaign.

Be glad we can mod it at all, in RTw it was hardcoded.
