You're telling me you couldn't make it more than 20 minutes into Oppenheimer and you think it's because you're "mature"?

I've got some bad news for you.

I have bad news for you, I watched Oppenheimer in its entirety, I found it interesting (without further ado). I preferred Barbie, a thousand times. Donīt know in what world enjoying Oppenheimer is proof of any maturity btw. Actually I can't think of any movie that can tell if a person is really "mature" or not.

(I said that I found Nolan's Batman trilogy a bit disappointing, the comment that I couldn't watch more than twenty minutes was referring to one of the X Men movies).

I can think of one really easily, the movie Conspiracy with Kenneth Branagh. A mature person understands why it is the scariest movie ever made despite it being entirely about a bunch of officers politely discussing around a table.

So yesterday I exchanged contracts on my first property with the deposit paid. Funny to think little more than 20 years ago, I had just joined this forum and had just started high school. So much has changed in my life since then.

The Last Jedi is the best movie in the star wars saga and it is not even very good

I'm not a big fun or Star Wars either, not that I don't like it, but IMO the prequel and the sequel trilogies only ruined the original charm

I liked Rogue One movie more than any of the ones in the two "new" trilogies. Haven't watched The Mandalorian or any of its spin-offs. IMO the third trilogy is just a copy/paste of the second one, in practical terms, no new content, no new ideas, everything already seen. I could have lived with the first two and that would have been enough (but honestly one movie was all that they needed as a prequel).

That being said it's a huge commercial success, the three series alone have earned more than 8 billions dollars (with some adjustments for nowadays inflation) and Star Wars (the movie, I mean) was a game changer back then. Excellent effects, wonderful design with very curated elements and coherence, an original idea to develop: Jedi are, basically, space mages.

    The rest is history

Rogue One would be the next star wars best movie in my opinion. I seriously don't understand the success of the first movie, there must be something intrinsically cool about samurai space magicians and young men chosen for glory. (minimally related, when I play Skyrim I usually make a Jedi/magic and sword type character).

I guess this helped too ..

As I'm at it, I'd like to spend a few words of praise for Carrie Fisher: not the nicest face, not a particularly sexy body either, but she had that much of charisma and innate sensuality that made her absolutely seductive in that role. Loved her, I cried when I got the news that she was dead

You mean you like playing spellswords.

    ME too.^^

Carrie was special in Star Wars, not that usual helpless princess of that time, waiting for the Prince to rescue her.

    An idol.

The Phantom Menace is my favourite. You won't change my mind. This is probably because it was the first of my childhood.

I like podracers. I tolerate Jar Jar. I like the politics. I think it has the best lightsaber duel of the whole saga. I do think Darth Maul was cool.

I like the the original trilogy but it doesn't have the same magic for me as it clearly does for many others. I disdain Episodes II, III, VII, VIII & IX. They all suck.+

EDIT: Qui Gon Jinn is my favourite Jedi (and Liam Neeson is great in the role) and the Naboo fighter is probably my favourite Star Wars spacecraft (and my favourite Lego set too, as it turns out).

Darth Maul was really cool, an absolute waste that he only had like twenty minutes on screen. I was 25 years old when I saw the movie, old enough to hate little Anakin and to be above all interested in Natalie Portman. (but even then it seemed terribly crude to me how they tore her suit to show some flesh. I guess I was pre-woke or something).

Natalie.. not that sexy tbh, but she has that special tingle that only tiny women have (atl, to my tastes). She's a talented actress anyway.

Is it 25 years already? Goddammit, mish...

remember when the world was supposed to end by 31/12/1999? or by 2012 with that Mayan ? No one ever imagined anything like the pandemic, of course
