hello, i have not the nvidia tool in my filter menu of photoshop. But i did the update to be able to edit textures in dds format. Did i miss something.??
"There is a difference between what is wrong and what is evil. Evil is committed when clarity is taken away from what is clearly wrong, allowing wrong to be seen as less wrong, excusable, right, or an obligatory commandment of the Lord God Almighty.
Evil is bad sold as good, wrong sold as right, injustice sold as justice. Like the coat of a virus, a thin veil of right can disguise enormous wrong and confer an ability to infect others."

thanks i missed the the filter folder...
Great tutorial thanks!!!
Hello. I have used your tutorial in the past without a hitch, but now I am encountering a problem I'm not sure how to deal with.

The model is all shiny, not entirely silver, just shiny. I think it has something to do with the alpha/normal maps, but when I go to the layers menu in photoshop the alpha layer is completely white. And way to fix this?
Just follow tut steps.
have to make it again

Hi, I am having some problems when I'm about to save the normal file. When I try to save it, it saids "Error too many channels (5) to save". Any idea why it causes this because I was usually able to do all the steps w/t problems before.
My texture size is 2048 x 2048 if that may help.
Regards.
EDIT: Forgot to flatten the image
Hello to you all, I have problem when I'm editing unit texture and norm texture...I've followed all these steps, but on the battle map my unit disappears when I'm zooming out, like some kind of chameleon, and when I'm zooming in the textures show up but are all messed up. It's not the problem with the mesh model 'cause in milkshape everything matches, model and the textures, so it has to be something with my work in photoshop...don't know what I'm doing wrong, any help would be nice
Send textures and meshes.
I've done it with gimp just now...it seems that something is wrong with photoshop, because I've saved the vanila textures as dds without editing and they were broken again. Then I've edit some textures in photoshop, saved them as dds, opened in gimp and just saved them as dds, without any work on them and it was successful. Pretty annoying...but thanx a lot anyway
Hey dude fix the link :] and tnx for the tutorial

I don't exactly undestand this: "Cover it with black color, so that it does not have any reflection" How? Get a black brush and cover white parts?
The alpha channel has to be all white (means all visible, not transparent). The parts you want to be invisible/transparent must be colored with black. A good example would be hair or tail on a helmet. Shades of grey create a semi-transparent effect. If you don't intend to have any transparent textures, simply cover everything with white. You can use color fill in photoshop to do this.

thanks for the tutorial, now i can try make my own normal maps, rather than scrapping from existing normal maps
