Good on you! Your turn!
Good on you! Your turn!
This is a question concerning a single subject, but there are several parts to it, so perhaps it can be regarded as 3 questions. Feel free to flesh out this interesting story. Canadians may have an advantage in figuring out the answer to this riddle. At its heart is one of the most famous objects in the world.
Three men came from this path of trees, only one came back.
Three men came from this path of courage, only one came back.
Who were they? What is this path? What object does this concern?
No replies in 24 hours, so next clue. The subject concerns Canadian military history.
Oh god this is hard......I'm going to take a serious long shot...
Is it something to do with the Second Boer War where the "three men" would be the British Empire, the Orange Free State and South African Republic and the object would be the "monopoly" on dynamite?
I'm probably wrong...

Well, I have read the rules on the first page concerning the question limits, but I have decided to make my first few questions easy. Just so they were "answerable".and why you people dont ask more then three queston 3 quesions is the minimum not the maximusm
The next turn I get at making the questions, I'll make up 4 or 5 questions.
PS: I couldn't even figure out Pannonian's riddle, it is a very hard riddle, thats for sure....
Oh well, here's the answer to the riddle. 3 pure questions follow.
The path of trees is Pine Street in Winnipeg, Canada, aka Valour Road, the path of courage. The 3 men were Leo Clarke, Frederick William Hall and Robert Shankland, of whom only Shankland survived WW1. The famous object is the Victoria Cross, which these men all won. The curiosity of a single street producing 3 VC winners caused the government to rename Pine Street, Valour Road, in their honour.
One chap solved the riddle by realising the famous object in Canadian military history was the VC, upon which he looked up the list of Canadian VC winners in WW1 and WW2. The 1st name he looked at was Leo Clarke, and a look at his wiki entry filled in the gaps.
Here's 3 pure questions then.
1. Who is the earliest known commentator of Sun Zi Bing Fa?
2. Which British cabinet minister served in the frontlines in WW1 after resigning his office?
3. Who commanded the British 1st Army in Tunisia in WW2?
Alright, here are my answers:
1. Sima Qian.
2.Herbert Henry Asquith.
3.Kenneth Arthur Noel Anderson.
Still waiting for 3 correct answers.
1. Cao Cao
2. Winston Churchill
3. Kenneth Arthur Noel Anderson

Correct.
1. Cao Cao, a legendary general in his own right (the central figure in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms), compiled extant versions of Sun Zi's The Art of War to produce the 13 chapters we have today, and added explanatory notes to it. Later authors followed the same pattern, keeping the original text and adding their own commentary.
2. Churchill was moved from the Admiralty to the Duchy of Lancaster, an office dealing with domestic matters, following the Dardanelles disaster. He resigned the office and resumed his army career, serving on the Western Front as a colonel. He was in the trenches for a few months before connections gave him another government position relating to the war.
3. Kenneth Anderson was the commander of the British 1st Army in Tunisia, and the senior general within Eisenhower's sphere of North Africa.
Your turn.
